So who is the mystery star debuting at Revolution?
I'm going to go with someone like James Storm, I can't see another major jump.

It'll be someone big I think. I doubt AEW would make a big deal out of it if it could be seen as disappointing. I could see maybe Kurt Angle or Christian.

Kurt definitely seems the most likely. There are only a few people who fit the billing that they've given and most of those (Cena, Brock, Batista...) you'd presume are out of the running. Angle has no WWE contract and I find it hard to believe he was truly happy with a retirement match against Baron Corbin of all people.
CM Punk would obviously be the best. He's the only one who's a big enough star who could conceivably still wrestle anything close to a full time schedule.

Will be All Elite and get dropped within 3 months after his anti-mask, COVID conspiracy gimmick that AEW will allow him to spiel will get him in trouble. That or he steps on his ex Thea Trinidad's shoes once she signs on board. Will surpass Jim Cornette for guy fired by most federations in wrestling history. Kind of want to see A Double be signed just for this sole reason.

Austin Aries would be a tremendous disappointment. Then again, I can't think of anybody who I would be particularly excited about. Angle and Christian are past it. CM Punk, never liked the guy much as a wrestler but boy can he talk. He's the only realistic option I can think of who would get me interested.

The other option would be Gerald Brisco given how much Tony Khan loves bringing back older generation big names from WWF/WCW/WWE. Not so much an on air character but more as a backstage presence but I know Brisco is closer than anyone to Vince but he got done dirty for his release. He's close with Jim Ross and a few of the older guys like Jericho and Show and was beloved by plenty of the talent.
I can imagine the giant groan from the IWC if Brisco is the big name but I can definitely see Show welcoming Briscoe to AEW. That would be such a debbie downer for Vince to see that. He's got a hell of a mind for the wrestling business.

Where does your mind go to sometimes, Blindy?
Honestly I didn't get the impression that it would be a John Cena, Brock Lesnar or even Undertaker style announcement. I would have said Kurt for sure, but I don't think TK would be that obvious.
I could live with them announcing somebody like Christian.

It wouldn't be the first time AEW promised someone big, and it was a major disappointment. Outsider pick might be AJ Lee. I can't think of a lot of female workers with a HOF career outside of herself and Trish worth investing in. Probably end up being Trinidad.

What things have AEW hyped up that have underdelivered? I'm not super plugged in but one thing I thought everyone agreed they did really well was debuts. Sting, Moxley, Kenta, FTR, Brodie - were they not all great moments?

And another thing. They already said that the new person ISN'T gonna be the sixth and final competitor in the Revolution Ladder Match.
So this could get interesting.

I think everyone is getting swerved and Big Show will announce himself as the signing as leave commentary and attack someone in the ring.

Sting, Moxley, Kenta, FTR, Brodie - were they not all great moments? The only time I recall TK being this outspoken was when he promised a shift in the balance of power. Then all we got was the return of PAC and a standard episode of Dynamite.
Some of those debuts were successful, I'm not sure if I'd include FTR in that category though. Great signings but the way they came in and were used afterwards left a lot to be desired.

I thought that too until Khan got on Twitter and pumped it up some more, then I thought there's no way Khan would put himself out there like that if he wasn't confident.

I would much prefer Christian to Kurt Angle btw. Kurt Angle can barely stand up straight, I don't see how they could use him. Holding out for Gerald Brisco now, but failing that a Christian run would be nice to see.

I agree.
Kurt Angle is the type of signing you bring in out of the blue and it's more about his role in AEW than him simply showing up.
Christian on the other hand has always been a huge favourite of this crowd. To me he was the original Daniel Bryan where he appealed to that hipster audience who tried to get Stevie Richards a World Championship shot at Taboo Tuesday. The WWE did a pretty good job of just making him another guy in 2013, but I think the AEW crowd would keep an open mind.

Sting, Moxley, Kenta, FTR, Brodie - were they not all great moments? We’ve revealed about 40% of the roster - Cody. Nope wrong. Joshi Roster handled with same respect as WCW Cruiserweight Division. Nope. There'd be less focus on "preposterous, ridiculous" angles - TK. You kidding me? Focused on Women's Wrestling - Brandi Rhodes. Ok.. Real " sport " feel. Nope. Shift in Power. Nope. The Dark Order/Exalted One. Dear God.

Christian does podcast work for WWE now and was with them on their failed WWE show, why would he defect to AEW? He just wrestled in the rumble. He also has a ton of concussions racked up and cameback from his fair share of health problems.
Would not surprise me if Christian is used in the Reigns angle, I would have Christian face Reigns on a Smackdown if anything to further the feud with Edge.
This just smells like Gerald Brisco which is a big deal around the industry given how close he was to Vince and all, seems beloved by most if not all and would fit in with AEW backstage.

To continue living out the WCW rebirth fantasy I would say either Goldberg or Jeff Jarrett. Possibly the NWA champion Nick Aldis
And just a random hopeful guess of Melina. Because Shida could use a big feud or any feud at this point. And AEW with with one of the least popular options for Revolution.

Nick Aldis is a great shout. He's a big deal.
On that note, could be Marty Scurll as well. I don't particularly care for the guy but he seems to be a very big name on the indies. Also friendly with The Elite.

Scurll has too many #metoo stench on him that Khan would be destroyed if he brought him in. Scurll got scrubbed off NJPW supposedly after he made a unadvertised one-off appearance. When Khan was so vocal on being against Joey Ryan(rightfully so), him hiring Scrull would be a meltdown worthy reaction.
Aldis seems loyal to Corgan to the bone so unless he is doing double duty here, I doubt it. Would be a good addition.

I think it's Christian. The fact WWE hasn't done anything with him after Rumble is surprising, and you know he went through hell to be cleared.

Underdelivering on the angle isn't the same as underdelivering on the name. Being the best man to Pip Sabian and having him come out in pink Mickey Mouse gucci and having a video game gimmick is about as DOA as it can get. This debut sucked.

I have a few guesses Kurt Angle, CM Punk, Christian, AJ Lee, Mark Henry, Alberto Del Rio(if he isn’t in jail.), or Nick Aldis

Hopefully terra ryzing makes a return! I haven’t seen him since WCW.
Another one could be Norman Smiley or even Disco Inferno?
Show will probably turn heel and attack someone and reviles it to be him all along like Vince did either the higher power.

What if spladle125 is on the AEW writing team. Ya know how he makes thread titles like FORMER WORLD CHAMP LACES UP BOOTS but then it's just fucking D-Von, who is technically a world TAG champ. This is what that is. It's Hardcore Holly.

We know a few things: -it's a male wrestler -he's "hall of fame worthy" -he's one of Tony Khan's all-time favourite wrestlers.
So it could literally be any male wrestler.
I'm going to get my hopes waaaayyyy up and say it's CM Punk so that I can bitch and moan incessantly when it turns out to be Scott Steiner or something.
