Based on what Show said, "a Hall of Fame worthy talent will be hired and signed to a contract with AEW, but it’s not who you think," really makes me think it is him.  I mean he even said it is a BIG star.  

I just hope it is not Foley.  Sick of seeing him as the token legend they dust off.  I love the guy, he is super nice in person, but really, we do not need him.  If it is Marty, Aldis, ect I will be let down. They may be Hall of Fame worthy talent someday but in AEW you have legit legends on there like Tully, Arn, Roberts and Sting.



Christian is out as he is under WWE contract.  Goldberg too.  Angle I believe is under a legends contract.  Punk is likely out as he rubbed some of the guys in the fed now the wrong way when he was coming up.  Heard people think it is Bret but he already appeared.  Others think it is 123 Kid, but he is retired now too basically.  Kahn said they are signing a multiyear deal, which means it is not likely Cena, Batista or Lesnar.

There is a name of a semi-retired guy I am not hearing being said though that fits the the Hall of Fame worthy billing and is a free agent.  Bully.  He fits the product too.   Also he would be a guy that many will want on the inside, as his complaints about problems that AEW has in regards to booking are spot on.  AEW feels like indy shows where you never know if your talent will there next month, that is exactly how it is booked.  Hire him, get him on training and working with booking, and lock his ass down for several years.  Be the best investment they could make.  

That said, it could very well be Punk on commentary.  Many did work in RoH where he did color commentary and the guy is fantastic at it.  One of the all time greats at commentary IMO.  Punk says it is not him though.  

I have a nagging feeling the signing is Zelina.  Her no compete is up I believe.  Cain Velasquez is also a free agent.   


That all said, crossing my fingers hoping for Quackenbush <.<  He has ties with so much of the AEW roster giving countless guys their first breaks.

Shit did not realize it was one of Khan's all-time favorite wrestlers.  Did some digging.  Looks like it is Angle.  Angle let his WWE contract expire.  He claims he is all in on his Physically Fit nutrition program, but he signs a part time deal with AEW he could leverage advertising into it.

Nick Aldis keeps getting tossed around but I really can't see it being him. Powerrr is coming back, he's still the champ, and NWA already has a working relationship with AEW. He doesn't really need to sign with them unless it's to make more money, and I doubt they would make a big deal out of it. If anything he would show up and challenge Cody to a rubber match.

I'm starting to think that it's Rob Van Dam. I have nothing to base that on, just a feeling.

Yeah RVD makes sense too. I hope not though. Not liked him since ECW. 50 year old RVD is just not that exciting.

The more I think of it, the more I think this will be an utter letdown. Most of the names thrown out I really do not want to see in AEW, and those I do, are all nearing 50 and not really able to do that much these days simply due to being older with nagging injuries, like Angle or Flair.

My gut says it is Chris Hero. He is not under WWE right now and he is another guy with ties to a lot of guys in the fed. If we get Hero I so hope we get another match with Kingston.

Also worth noting that dozen or so people were reported last year to not signing new WWE contracts. Could be a jump.

I guess, what is interesting is they've signed someone with a HOF worthy career, instead of " the hottest free agent "

And man a whole of people are going to disappointed who think that they got Cena, Brock, Rock or Punk.  AEW absolutely does not need someone paid in Jericho's salary per match.  My favorite are people who think it is Taker or Hogan.  Like, why would they even want either of them?

If it is Christian, I really liked watching him in the 2000's but to me, it would be a mistake to predominantly feature him on TV.

So my new dark horse is Sean Waltman. He just announced the end of his podcast (with something new coming in the same feed), and there's been rumors he wants a final run for years.

My "no way it happens, but nothing would make me happier" choice is Brock Lesnar.

He should get a final farewell somewhere. When he came into CHIKARA in 2011 he was hated and everyone was shitting on him when it was announced then he tore the house down. He looked great the two other times he appeared as well.
