Everybody here in History of Wrestling knows Terry Funk is one of the all time great professional wrestlers. He's one of the premiere brawlers in wrestling history. Was also considered a top notch scientific wrestler in his younger days. Was gold on interviews. Had a slew of memorable feuds. Equally adept at playing heel or face. Considered a legend on two continents. Wrestled everybody and everywhere during a career spanning six glorious decades. Always got over. Always put people over. One of the most beloved wrestlers of all time by both peers and fans. We all know this. I think most of you also know that Terry Funk was in a few movies and tv shows including such Baker approved gems as Roadhouse and Quantum Leap. But the other night I learned something new about our hero, the Funker. Something that proves he really could do it all....or at the very least had balls the size of grapefruits. For the other night I learned Terry Funk once put out an album! It was titled Great Texan which is both apt and awesome. Terry Funk ain't no liar. Learning that Terry f'n Funk once recorded an English language album called Great Texan aimed at a Japanese audience gives me hope yet for this world. I've only listened to one song- Great Texan for which the album was named. It was....umm....not good But still! Terry Funk put out an album! How cool is that?

I'm sure I linked to one of these tunes in the old "posts that don't require their own thread" thread. Which was a mistake, because as you've demonstrated here, it clearly does deserve its own thread.
Notice Jimmy Hart singing on that song as well. He didn't write it but wrote some of the others on the album. Including this gem.
A "Beat It" rip-off riff and solo with an opening line that sounds like he is about to burst into his own weird version of "Monster Mash" and a title that seems like his own version of "Bette Davis Eyes".

Oh wow, I need to check this out. I watched some great Funk footage on an episode of ECW TV from 1994, the scene where they stage the press conference after the original three way dance match(Sabu vs Funk vs Douglas), I'm sure you've all seen this scene where Shane Douglas throws the belt and hits him in the head then Funk smacks him and they brawl. Just before all that though Joey Styles goes through a big opening for the press conference and there's Terry Funk standing beside him with the belt with dried crusty blood all over his face, there is such a great and hilarious moment as Joey tries to segue into an interview with Funk where Terry is sitting there beside him getting into the zone turning on the tears with his chin quivering and shit, he goes into this big heartfelt promo and it was so hilarious to me the way he was working those tears up while Joey was going through his intro. Terry Funk is amazing really. About a month or so ago I fell asleep in my living room with the TV going on one of those free over the air channels I pick up with my antenna, I woke up in the middle of the night and that one episode of Quantum Leap with Terry Funk was on(this was what actually woke me up out of a dead sleep), it was the most awesomely random shit. Apparently there is a channel I get that plays Quantum Leap reruns at like 3 in the morning. Really a great episode too, probably my favorite of the series(one of my favorite shows of all time).

Yeah, I heard Jimmy as well. Barbra Streisand's Nose is maybe the perfect Jimmy Hart song title. I'll have to listen and see how it compares to the Hart-penned Memphis classic, Wimpbusters.
For those interested, you can own your very own copy of Great Texan starting at the low, low price of only $52.62. It's a steal! Why they're practically giving it away! www.discogs.com/Terry-Funk-Great-Texan/release/5789584And somewhere during all this I learned Vigo the Carpathian had a brief professional wrestling career. That's almost as cool as Terry Funk recording an album.

Tremendous video. The King had certainly done well for himself with that wife. "Bustin' makes me feel good" followed by him smashing a woman in the face shouldn't be funny but it is. And somewhere during all this I learned Vigo the Carpathian had a brief professional wrestling career. That's almost as cool as Terry Funk recording an album. A fantastic find. Resulted in me reading this article: deadspin.com/the-hateful-life-and-spiteful-death-of-the-man-who-was-1737376537-------------------------------------------------- I also love how that little sleeve makes the cover say EAT TEXAN, as if Terry Funk is promoting produce from his Double Cross Ranch.

I know, right? Why would Lawler go after teenage girls when he gets to come home to Paula every night? She was good on Lawler's tv show too. Those two unsurprisingly had natural chemistry. She could have had a career in the business. I read the same article on "Vigo." Was gonna change my avatar to a better version. Glad I didn't now. EAT TEXAN forever.
