I was led to believe that Darby Allin matches were pretty stupid and the sort of thing that I hate - but I really enjoyed that actually. Both guys came out looking really strong and they didn't cross the line into overkill territory.

Miro shooting on the internet yelling "am I underwhelming?!" was a nice touch. I think it was definitely the right decision to put the title on him.

They were cutting it close to 10PM so they had to get the Dark Order chasing off Ethan Page & Scorpio Sky AND have Jake Roberts hold off The Murderhawk Monster EVERYBODY DIES away from Miro to tease that for the PPV.

Darby did a great promo about Miro. In fact it was a more promo heavy night then usually. Britt did a great on as well. Cody did something I am not sure what type of promo he was really going for but it was all over the place.

Sky and Page aren't afraid of Sting but Team Taz ran away from Sting multiple times.

Refs make their own rules here but Miro shoulders were down.

Got home from work late and missed half the show so I watched it late.

-Mox/Nagata was awesome and everything I hoped for. WILD THING.

-Tag titles was awesome. The absolute audacity of Matt Jackson and Christopher Daniels to recreate "I'm sorry, I love you." I fucking howled. I am worked brother. I LOVED THAT AND ALSO HATED IT SO MUCH.

-If Cody Rhodes isn't doing some incredibly meta heel work to become the most insufferable douche in wrestling history, and actually believes the shit he is doing as a character is good, then I will hate Cody Rhodes forever and go out of my way to ruin his life. But if he is I will put him in my top 10 all-time list. I'm dead serious.

-Miro pinballing Darby was incredible. Long live Miro. May is reign be as lengthy as Lana's legs and twice as beautiful.

-Speaking of beautiful, Thunder Rosa. That is all.

I think everyone goes through a similar process with Darby where they think he's just a spot guy but he's actually got some of the best psychology of any wrestler going today. He leans into his strengths well and sells his ass off before making these great comebacks.

Nice to see Yuji Nagata presented as a big deal. He certainly hasn't been a big deal in NJPW for a long time.

Wild Thing doesn't work for me. Can we get his old music back please? Sure, it's generic, but it gets me hyped. Wild Thing is a a boring plodder of a song, not great for a pro-wrestling entrance.

Wasn't a big fan of the match. Nagata is not as crisp or as fast as he used to be, and Moxley is not great at strong style, merely competent. But I can see this match being a great strong style introduction to those who have never seen it before.

Heel champion interferes in #1 Contender's match, thinks he's so smart because if there's no winner there can't be a challenger, right? stupidly assuming that the matchmaker will just give him the night off or not punish him at all, then acting all pantomime shocked when he has to face both opponents instead of just one of them. Predictable, cliché, intelligence insulting bullshit.

Miro vs Darby - best Darby Allin match I've seen in a while, and that's mainly because it didn't have that sense of inevitability about it that Darby would just kick out of everything and win. Besides that it was really well structured with some great near falls. Thought the Game Over was called a bit too quickly but it does establish the hold as a killer if it can beat the invincible Allin that fast.

Emperor you need to go back and watch Cody's promo because of how bad it is. Like it's so bad. I don't know how to describe it. He's either a meta heel genius, or so far up his own ass he can't be saved.

I knew Mox/Nagata wasn't going to be a 4.5 star classic (5 in the Tokyo Dome) but it was still fun to watch and I thought they both did a great job. A lot of fans are getting a dose of what NJPW has to offer and it's only going to get better. Give me Mox vs Tanahashi at Double or Nothing! GIVE ME WHAT I WANT.

I listened to the first 30 seconds, he started talking about elections, then I skipped another couple of minutes and I heard more politics talk, then I kept skipping. Promo went on for like 5 minutes or more. Not something I want to listen to.

The Cody promo was the best part of the show, he truly believes all of this stuff. People dispel this notion that he's AEW's answer to Triple H but with shit like this and the monthly "Cody speaks" segment on these shows, he is completely oblivious, except the AEW fanbase does not question anything he says. I don't know how nobody told him don't do this. He gets the fans to chant U-S-A throughout the promo and will get the fans to cry that vs Ogogo :rofl:

It's embarrassing that Rhodes speaks for the company, with the shitty neck tattoo, and with the overblown introduction. I am curious what SheltonMysterio's pulse of the guy is here in 2021.

OK, I relented. I watched the Cody promo. I can't deny the man's conviction, he's a great public speaker, but yeah the uber-patriotic stuff is kinda cringe. But I did get the sense he believed every word he was saying. Take from that what you will.

Problem is, English guy can kill anyone with a single punch, so you're fucked, American Dream.

There are reasons you avoid politics and religion. As for meta heel work, it could be great if it was. But he won't go that route.

Because since he is using the American Dream name if he loses he could easily turn heel calling the American Dream dead.

He used the American Nightmare moniker as a heel, he'd go back to that if he was a heel. He's full fledged babyface here and is making Ogogo as the next Iron Sheik or Nikolai Volkoff anti-American which is stupid because he's just a boxer from UK, and hasn't been anti USA in anything outside of bringing his flag to his squash matches. 

They're trying to make Cody the Rocky Balboa to Ogogo being Drago. Why is anyone's guess, I guess they see this as a way to make people want to boo Ogogo. If they do this in the weeks following Double or Nothing, I will laugh my ass off.



They'd just need Dustin or even better Arn Anderson to be the Apollo Creed here to make it all make sense. 

They're so anti Hulk Hogan yet Cody Rhodes is doing his very best impersonation of the Hulkster. It's hilarious to me.

I must take back this comment as it was apparently booked on the fly because Orange Cassidy was too hurt to continue. The original plan was a 20 minute draw to set up the three way.
