No, they did extremely long matches. So it the show gets better than normal ratings after the best PPV in years, it means the people who normally write the shows are not needed.

Not a bad show so far.

Vince teeing of at Creative is kind of pointless.
WWE creative is built in Vince's image, they know what Vince likes and keep churning out the same crap that has caused the WWE decline for over a decade, because that's what he wants.

Let's not forget Vince didn't want Bryan to headline Wrestlemania and made him lose the Rumble and the fans booed the ending.
He has completely lost touch with the common fan, he thinks he makes Superstars.
This is the biggest problem with the WWE, they don't give the talent the rope to succeed or fail.
They keep trying to Moneyball the roster rather than looking for talent and charisma.

I am not an AEW mark, but that is where I see the difference.
WWE squashed Booker-T, RVD, Jericho all from ascending to Stone Cold and Rock levels and they have been doing it ever since.
HHH and McMahon are destroying the WWE with their own egoes.

My guess on how Vince is gonna book the cash in: Big E comes out to cash in, that gets stopped somehow and Lashley and MVP begin to beat on Big E, then Goldberg comes out, spear to Lashley, spear to MVP, Jackhammer to Lashley, the bell rings for the match, Big E pins Lashley, new champion.

I smell a Jericho/Hunter situation, where Jericho beat Triple H on RAW for the title in 2000 only to have it overturned, and if anything it was a test to see how the crowd would react.

Big E is over, but he isn't 'white hot' - E'Mania isn't running wild like it was with Kofi. But a screwy finish might see the audience really behind him considering he'll have to earn the title shot without the briefcase.

Wow that was like the worst seven minutes I could’ve imagined for booking what felt like a home run title change. I like Big E and wanted him to get the belt, but there’s the weird “knee tweak”, Big E coming down, long ass commercial break, then Big E gets whooped on by a guy with a bad knee and having just finished a match, nearly loses, then gets the surprise from under win. Like if that had happened to Kofi sure, but Big E isn’t exactly a work from under lightweight.

and I agree there should’ve been some celebration time.

I do think it’s time to do a little hot shotting with the title. If you’re gonna give Roman a 500+ day reign, there needs to be some intrigue on the other side.

Watched the end of the show because twitter told me Big E won and I agree with mikec. What a shit show.

What killed it, was the commercial break the second Big E came out. It killed the sense of urgency and that 'WTF is happening' feeling you've got with past cash ins.

And certainly Big E is the right guy. I've never read a bad thing about the guy, and he's certainly a fun worker.

This also means New Day are back together on RAW.

Yeah I came here after being on reddit and twitter and everyone was loving this - come to PW and you think it was the debut of the Shockmaster.

Commercial was beyond stupid, but apart from that this was a great moment.

Agreed, strange difference of opinion there :lol: Almost as if there is an anti-WWE bias on PW. Which I completely understand, Raw especially is garbage and AEW is gaining more and more momentum.

I did catch a clip of the celebration and it looked perfectly fine. Big E celebrating with New Day. What's not to like?

I’m not an AEW guy and am really happy they picked Big E… just really don’t understand the way they did the match and how weak it made Big E look (and how ridiculously poor the timing of the commercial was.)

The storytelling behind the match was essentially “Lashley just had a match against one of the best wrestlers in WWE history, took the RKO, won with interference, twisted his knee badly beating up two guys after the match, then nearly beat a fresh Big E clean in the middle after dominating the offense in the match”

I only saw the YouTube clip so I don't know how it came off on TV but it looked like a great moment.

WWE seem to have this new habit of doing entrances before a commercial now, then when they come back they do another segment whilst the wrestler is in the ring and then cut back. I get why they’re doing it to encourage you not to channel flip, but they really shouldn’t have done it for Big E’s cash in.

Are we also meant to believe that there was still a commercial due after Bobby won in the main event? Whilst Nikki’s cash in was really quick, it made sense that she was cashing in right at the end. Or are we meant to believe that they allowed time for Big E since he announced ahead of time?

I thought it was one of the better Raw’s in a long time but just that detail with the entrances throughout the show took me out a bit.

The talent seemed a little more relaxed this week, after a month of being donkey-punched by AEW and having to work for Vince McMahon. Perhaps it was knowing their boy Big E was winning the title. There was a funny little exchange between Charlotte and Jax, where Charlotte did a crotch-chop and later, Alexa was hamming it up with Charlotte, who actually looked like she was in a good enough mood to play along.
