As noted, former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville has been absent from WWE TV as he is reportedly unhappy with his current spot in the company, which resulted in him missing a scheduled Raw appearance in early October. Neville hasn’t been with the company since. Despite his unhappiness, however, Neville remains under contract with WWE.

We last reported on November 14th that Neville and WWE had been having positive talks, and that a tentative plan was for Neville to return to WWE in time for the remainder of WWE’s recent European tour.

PWInsider.com has provided an update on the Neville WWE situation, and noted that the plan was for Neville to return to WWE on the Smackdown brand, a move that would distance him from 205 Live, a show which was the source of some of Neville’s unhappiness in WWE.

Despite the positive talks between WWE and Neville, however, PWInsider reports the talks abruptly broke down, and Neville’s WWE future is once again in question.

Back in November, when we initially reported on the Neville WWE talks, it was noted that he did have some projects lined up outside of WWE that he was unable to fulfill since WWE would not release him from his contract.

Honestly, I had forgotten all about the man that gravity forgot....

I haven't watched 205 Live, but I wonder why he was so unhappy with that spot? There's much worse spots, and of course the possibility of not even pushed or not even being on TV... He was getting pushed and appearing on Raw and PPVs..

The purple ropes and presenting the cruiserweights as a side attraction is definitely cheesy and counterproductive but in the case of Neville, from what I was seeing on PPVs and on Raw, he was really doing a great job standing out from the pack. I'd like to see him stay as a heel and enter the United States Championship division on SmackDown.

I think money was likely an issue. His match with Aries was cut from the WM DVD, so he wasn't getting paid there. And since they weren't gonna move him up the card... he hit a ceiling.

Big Update On Neville’s Current Situation With WWE

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE and Neville remain at a standstill with regards to Neville’s contract status. Meltzer added Neville indeed wants to leave WWE, but the company will not grant him the release and is instead making him sit out the remainder of his contract.

There was speculation that WWE and Neville could come to some form of agreement which would see Neville return to WWE TV, however that does not appear to be happening and Neville is likely finished with the company when his contract expires.
