I'd have to rewatch to double check (and my DVR is flipping out on me so I can't at the moment) but it is the sort of thing that might be played off as Pillman savoring the moment; looking at MJF on his knees begging for forgiveness just before you beat the snot out of him.
Probably didn't come across that way but Brian Jr is still new and learning, these things happen.
