Not surprising, given there were rumors of AEW looking to trademark King of Harts. I'm all for tournaments in wrestling, honestly I'm kind of surprised AEW hasn't done their own round robin tournaments, given Omega and the Bucks have spent so much time in Japan.

Either way, great way to pay respects to Owen Hart.

The Owen Hart Cup is going to be AEW's version of The New Japan Cup and that excites me to no end.

Also an action figure and a playable character in the upcoming video game. Just awesome.

I love tournaments. Combine the legacy of a great wrestler and guy outside the ring and you get me excited!

I hope if AEW does do a tournament they go all out. 64 guys, brackets in advance, outside talent, ect. Make it a month long thing. Could be the march madness of wrestling. They got enough talent right now to do it so use them. Dark and Elevation can be used to hammer out the matches that are not big TV ones.

I'd like to see a Dark/Elevation talent at least make it far, and to make a name of themselves in the tourney.

Yeah.  We should have it in either Calgary or Winnipeg, and it should be on PPV.

TK would get more goodwill by having a PPV in Canada.

It needs to be there. For starters it's his home and second for all the real wrestling fans, smarks and trolls they/we need closure. I feel like nobody really got any closure. He died one day, tribute (with no family involvement) the next, then buried. It happened so fast.

That's a great point. Considering the drama surrounding Owen's death, he wasn't celebrated the way he should have been. Vince has had a stick up his butt because he looks at Canada as a bizarro world since fans don't react accordingly.

WWE can't do much because of Owen's widow, who holds them reasonably responsible.

An interactive bracket challenge a la March Madness is genius. Do it through AEW's website, winner gets an all inclusive trip to the next PPV or something.

64 is so easy too. 32 AEW guys, then Impact and NJPW and NWA and indies/free agents fight for the other 32 spots. Randomize the entrants to make the first round match ups then go hard for 30 days.

Logistically it might not work yearly like NJPW, but would love an annual thing even if it's not 64.

AEW can do all 64 if need be and still make it interesting.  But yeah bring in a few TNA guys, a few NWA guys, maybe people from RoH and PWG and if they can people from AAA and NJPW and this can be a world cup.  Online bracket challenge (and a structure that encourages gambling) and this will be the biggest wrestling event in a long time.

This will be an annual event it was announced.

So on Rampage tonight, they announced that it's gonna be two tournaments. One for the men, and one for the women.

They will both take place in May, with the Final matches taking place at Double or Nothing.

Canada’s own Kenny Omega, now a face, wins the mans - I’d like to see Punk in the final but I’ll guess he defeats Jericho. Ruby Riott wins the ladies, defeating either Serena Deeb or Britt Baker.

I still think she’ll win the womens title sooner rather than later, but inaugural Owen Champ for the best work horse in the womens division sounds good to me.

Rosa would be a good shout but I honestly think she dethrones Britt at Revolution in March.

Not sure Kenny will be back by then.  He had a lot of work done and recovery is gonna be a bitch.  He will not likely come back less than 100%.  Be a good place for him to return, but not sure he will beat the clock.  My pick, Danial Garcia.  Rocket his ass to the moon.
