Dusty had to interject himself in every feud. Trying to make to steal the shine off everybody he comes in connect with. Like father, like son.

Cody and whatever the fuck is happening with his character is literally making me not watch dynamite. And not in a "I guess I'll watch WWe way" cuz I haven't watched wwe outside of reddit clips in years. Seeing Cody was in an Atlanta streetfight against Charlottes husband, was enough for me to just go, ugh, fuck this shit I guess I won't watch

Turning heel would be the wisest thing to do.

Currently it's not meta work. He's not " playing us " nor are we all too stupid to " get it "

He's a pompous rich boy who isn't the son of a plumber. He's white privilege using his position in the company to have his big moments and promote his awful wife.

That's a perfect heel act, and he could be the biggest piece of shit heel in the company if he were smart enough to see it.

Unless Cody makes himself champion somehow, I'm over this entire saga. What, Cody being a heel is gonna elevate him up the card? his staus would be the same no matter what.

They either love the hate, or Cody is too pompous to realise. AEW socials pump out Rhodes related bullshit daily, and it's met with a justifyingly negative response.

Late to the party, probably reiterating what everyone else has already said but I enjoy shitting on the guy:

1. The stupid neck tattoo. Even most Cody marks admit it's dumb.

2. Brandi is just Stephanie but without any of the charisma and is always shoehorned in where she doesn't belong. At least HHH was talented (both in and out of the ring) while fucking his way to the top.

3. The fact that he's such a natural heel (and he's damn good at it too, "Undashing" persona was awesome) but apparently refuses to turn. He's Cena without the overness but the difference is he has an actual say in that but won't pull the trigger because he wants to go out babyface, no matter if he has to drag the fans kicking and screaming.

4. He has a reality TV show, further cementing himself as being "above" or "separate" from the brand, adding depth to that overwhelming WWE feel he gives off.

5. The Charlotte Flair effect, ie overly banking off his father's legacy. Dustin may be a more lackluster wrestler but at least he's always felt like he's unique (post original WCW run, that is).

6. Having to get color in almost every big match really always seems like a cheap grab for crowd sympathy.

7. Personal gripe: The weight belt looks really dumb and he's constantly adjusting it mid-match.

8. He has a VERY punchable face.

9. Being booked as an underdog when he's anything but that.

10. That fucking neck tattoo.

Unlike Brandi, Steph was pretty much willing to do whatever it took for the company. She got the crap beat out of her more than a few times, and for years went out to get trashed on national TV. Her literal gimmick was she was the spoiled brat daughter of the boss. Rarely was she ever giving any sort of redeeming arc. She may not have been the greatest wrestler, but she damn sure earned her spot for the company given she could have sat in back and made the same amount leading creative.

For Cody I did like him, but that fucking neck tattoo was the point where I just could no longer support him. I just could not take him seriously at all after it.  I even tried to give him a chance with Black, but he ended up basically no selling the program, which is part of the reason there is so much confusion on what Black is doing.  Cody should have been the first of the sinners that Black was going after, as Cody represents Pride perfectly.   Now he hit Julia and Pac, Lust and Wrath, no one really gets what is up because Cody kind of will not play his part.  Hopefully things get made clear when he hits Cassidy for Sloth.  

I have a sinking feeling that Cody is gonna be the TNT champion for the 3rd time. :thumbsdown:

When AEW first started, he was actually one of the few characters fans could get behind because he was relatable. Cody was a guy who lost his father, and wanted to honour him in the best light so he worked twice as hard and showed more passion than anyone else in the company and the fans believed in it.

The problem was his character never grew from there but I don't think it's too late to rework things and give Cody a clear focus.

This may be a surprising take but Cody is one of the more entertaining things about AEW right now. He’s so hateable, and not in a Dan Lambert, more transparent than a window type way, but in a way that makes you question if even he understands his delusion. The entrance, the gear, the booking, it’s all good stuff. And let’s be honest, Sammy Guevara is boring as shit as a babyface and this won’t hurt him at all. He needs freshening up.

Sammy and Cody are both boring to me, I would have preferred Sammy to keep the belt but it's really a lesser of two evils. As Todd said, at least Cody has the crowd hate going for him. That makes his segments somewhat entertaining.

It's weird because Sammy used to be one of my favourite AEW wrestlers, a joy to watch in the ring, but now I really dislike watching the guy and I don't even know why because he's not changed that much. Maybe that's exactly the reason. He's stagnated, and putting a belt on him didn't change that. Also the current gimmick he's doing with the Stone Cold jacket and the badass persona really doesn't work for him. You're not a badass, Sammy, stop it.

Anyone agree that Miro should never have dropped the belt? Or at least not to Sammy?

The issue with Miro is that he was carrying an injury so taking the title off of him made sense. I'd like to think if they had the option, they gave Guevara the feel good win with the design of having Miro win it back but the injury may have been worse than they feared and Cody may have pitched something better. Plus, he's an EVP and one of the highest paid guys on the roster, you have to try and give him some value. As much as I'd cool down on Cody and build him back up the reality is you have to pass him the ball if he's an important part of your scheme.

Personally I would have held off and built towards an Adam Cole vs. Sammy Guevara, but they had different ideas. I think this way opens up matches with America's Top Team which they want to do and then you can possibly move into the Team Taz.

Plus Cody will want to do open challenges to face off against guys like Keith Lee, Jonathan Gresham and Mascara Dorada etc. Down the line, I think we'll see a Miro/Lana vs. Cody/Brandi match and that will likely be a big finale for their reality show.
