I'm so pumped to watch Keith Lee & Swerve vs Team Taz. The back & forth between them has been great.

Unsurprisingly Starks/Strickland was a pretty good match up, like Ed I'm looking forward to Team Taz vs. Swerve/Keith Lee tag team match.

The prematch talk was great and I like both guys and while it was good it was not as good as I hoped. Nese who I called bland for years I thought a much better match with Swerve. And Lethal had an amazing match with Ricky. So hopefully this is just the first of many and they didn't want to go all out the first time in AEW.

Not sure if they will air it or not, but Sammy and Conti for Rampage went to cut a promo and Boston shit all over them.

Not sure if they will air it or not, but Sammy and Conti for Rampage went to cut a promo and Boston shit all over them. They have to. Lambert apparently destroyed them and everyone is talking about it. If it doesn’t get aired the WWE edit comparisons will drive Tony to the brink. He’ll be arrested in Jacksonville with a BA level of 50 and 3 pounds of bath salts in his trunk.

Kept the segment. And crowd was not there for Sami at all. I didn't think it was that bad. But you either go all in on characters like this or don't bother at all. Either make Sammy the (more so) most insufferable person in the world and let him play a real chickenshit heel (you've got guys like Christian on the roster, who could coach a masterclass on being a creepy little bitch) or don't bother. Funnily, if the narrative shifts and the crowd begins to turn - they always seem to throw the dud-babyface at Dan Lambert and hope he looks like the bigger douchebag. It didn't work for the Rhodes...

2020 Serpentico 2021 Joey Janela
The rest are enhancement talents.

You talk about Rampage being the B show but this week Rampage took a great big dump on Dynamite.
Danielson vs Trent was an awesome way to open up the show. Beretta proved himself in a valiant effort. Regal on commentary was a nice bonus.
I had no idea who Swerve Strickland was before he joined AEW, and I must say, he is impressing me a lot with his Rampage matches. He uses his athleticism in unusual ways which catches out his opponents and makes him a joy to watch. Plus he can sell, he can talk, he's great.
Red Velvet vs Willow was a fun match. Again, no idea who Willow is. I assumed she was a Dark jobber who would be fed to Velvet, but the crowd loved her, and I think she's from ROH? She impressed me a lot, her offense was much more convincing than Velvet's sloppy kicks. The finish kinda sucked but it looked like Willow rolled and placed herself out of position to where Velvet was expecting, so Velvet had to stop and deliver her kick without any momentum. They made the most of a bad situation there.
The main event.
Wheeler fucking Yuta. That was a monumental star making performance. Moxley gave him everything, and credit to Yuta for taking it all, stepping up, and being a super badass. The Pure Champion who's not known for being particularly hardcore, to wrestle that kind of match with all that blood loss. He earned everyone's respect. Mine, the fans, and most importantly, William Regal's. Has anyone kicked out of the elevated Paradigm Shift before?
Danielson's mission statement was for him and Moxley to help breed and train the younger generation, and if this is how they do it, they're off to a winning start. They're bringing New Japan's strong style to AEW, and I love it. Not just the wrestling style but the attitude that comes with it.
Wheeler is absolutely right, he's better off without those lame Best Friends, but it is a tricky situation because they did bring him in. But sometimes you gotta move on and Yuta has pushed to sit under the learning tree of three incredible wrestlers. Good for him.
Meanwhile his contemporary Daniel Garcia, who was in a similar position to Yuta, is now in the Chris Jericho Kiss My Ass club calling himself a "sports entertainer" despite being more of a "pro wrestler" than most of the AEW roster. 2.0 have done more harm to Garcia than Best Friends did to Yuta. Imagine Garcia in the Blackpool Combat Club. Garcia and Yuta as a tag team. Take my money.

Emperor yeah Willow is from ROH. She fought Mercedes Martinez at Supercard of Honor for the Interim Women's title but lost. I think she's been on Dark a couple times as a jobber. Also when Garcia dumps The JAS Queens his face turn is going to be epic. I could actually see him becoming BCC's next target. They'll just go around drawing out the strongest competitor from each stable until they become the most powerful group in the company. That was a great show. 4 awesome matches that made the hour fly by. I'm glad they at least seem to be attempting to make Rampage must watch again. It's been pretty ass for the last little while. I couldn't believe Yuta kicked out of the Elevated Paradigm Shift. That's such a huge rub. That's Moxley's go to move to put away his toughest competitors when they refuse to stay down. I don't think anyone has ever kicked out of that. Then the overhead shot of the sleeper hold with all the blood everywhere as Yuta passes out...man, dude just became a star.

Also has anyone noticed that next week's live Rampage only has the Texas Deathmatch announced so far? Anyone think Crazy Tony is going to give that match the full hour?
They're taping Battle of the Belts right after as well. Last BotB was a big stinker. I hope this one isn't as bad.

Rampage on at 7 too next week, so before smackdown. I think he def is planning that match to be the majority of the show, to show the people who tune in while waiting for smackdown the difference between AEW and WWE.

So what direction does the Blackpool Combat Club take? Emp, I think you're onto something with Garcia but that will have to wait until Eddie is through with the Appreciation Society. Due to the Wheeler Yuta connection, the Best Friends makes the most sense but that feels more like a Dynamite match than a PPV encounter. Expect this comment to age poorly, but I don't think this stable is going to last long, at least the current configuration. So I think they've really got to strike while the iron is hot and set them up for a PPV run for All Out. I think that requires a bigger match at Double Or Nothing, but what? I don't think an AEW Tag Team Championship run is the play and there's a few other teams that could be an option but there needs to be an angle.
I thought it was a really good performance from Yuta who sold and fired up fantastically. He's still green in a few areas and there were a few spots that were a little laughable - that table spot on the outside being the most egregious. I also think with the benefit of hindsight that the elevated paradigm shift kick-out was one step too far. I think you could have saved that kick-out for the return match where Yuta wins - the crowd seemed pretty deflated when he was just beaten seconds later but it was the right idea. I think if you have Yuta reverse it only for Mox to hit a rear naked choke then it would have been better but that's obviously with hindsight.
