Well that sucks Punk has to vacant the title. And wonder how long this news will take to get out since no one watches Rampage. Yep, def disappointed. Even more so, since they hinted at Punk/Tanahashi for the Forbidden Door PPV.

That was unexpected. Hope Punk moves to commentary while he is healing up.
Curious if they got with MJF as champ now.

Even more so, since they hinted at Punk/Tanahashi for the Forbidden Door PPV. Not only hinted but that match was literally set in stone two days ago. Now Punk won’t even be there. Runor is he fucked up his leg/foot doing his stage dive on Wednesday. Like what a shitty way to go out. Like Sami Zayn throwing out his shoulder debuting against John Cena. No Punk at Forbidden Door fucking SUCKS.

Sounded like it was a Punkshot Lariat that did it. It is his foot that is fucked. Why he is in one boot in his recent pictures.
Here it is:

A little clarification on the title situation.
The title isn't vacant. Punk's still the linear title holder. Rather, AEW's gonna have an Interim World Champion until Punk returns. And that champ will face Punk when he returns.

Basically Punk gets a title shot when he comes back is all it really means. One he will likely lose.

It’s a shame CM Punk had to get hurt but at least this means we get Jon Moxley vs Hiroshi Tanahashi at Forbidden Door.

I don't get the whole Moxley thing (from a ranking perspective), surely as the #4 ranked guy he should be in the battle royal. I mean, if anyone is skipping the battle royal, it should be the number one ranked Wardlow. Although I guess that's more ex-WWE guys getting special treatment, I guess it adds fuel to MJF's whole thing. Edit: Then again, if the rankings actually mattered, the #1 ranked Wardlow would be wrestling the #2 ranked Adam Cole for the interim championship. Edit 2: I'm going by the rankings as of June 1st. www.allelitewrestling.com/post/official-aew-rankings-as-of-wednesday-june-1-2022

Only thing I can think of is they want to set up a story for MJF. WWE guy gets an automatic title shot, while MJF who was here from day 1 at All In has to fight for it because Khan only wants the title of former WWE guys.
Sure Hangman was the champ but who got to challenge for the belt? WWE guys.

So time to complain about wrestling not being predictable when it sometimes should be. You have a very over tag team, a somewhat lower card guy, and a debuting faction from another promotion. Seeing this people I know everyone assume Trent is taking the fall. Nope, Trent is the one that gets the victory for his team. And while yes he needed it the most. It isn't the way to build a relationship with another wrestling company that you want to be considered equal with. But maybe I am only seeing one side of the coin maybe AEW does stuff in Japan and loses to NJPW guys over there.

NJPW is not going to complain about one of their former champs winning a match. Because, all of the US matches are basically excursions just used to get eyes on their talent. I doubt they care who wins, because wins in the US do not matter to them. It is very likely they are taking that new belt to NJPW too, which makes meaningless match results kind of moot.

TRENT was in NJPW for 6 years and was a big star in the Jr Tag Team division. Roppongi Vice was huge. This wasn’t “jobber gets a random win” this was “NJPW veteran shuts up an egotistical new tag team on his new turf” If there’s anything to complain about it’s the fact that AEW assumes all their viewers already know this about TRENT.

Well they do expect their core audience to know a lot of outside material. I didn't know he was there for that long and a big deal. I only seem him in WWE, TNA, and AEW and in all of those he is/was an undercard guy. Also didn't sound like they did that great in ROH.

Rich parents I think. I looked him up once and that was the general consensus. Green Shirt Guy is a different story. I think he’s like a day trader or something and spends all his money going to wrestling shows.

Went back and watched Andrade/Fenix
The ending was certainly something. Felt forced and sad without a certain someone involved.

Got to love AEW's spoiler filled youtube titles. I will say if you aren't familiar with all the stars from other promotions debuting in a nice suit makes you seem like a bigger deal. And I know you need to advertise but in some segments could using not trying to sell merchandise.

His height must have made it extremely hard to break in this business. Even the Stardom world champion is taller then him.

Tony really needs not do the exact same story set up in back to back matches. Let's set up a title feud because the partners turn on each other. The men's match makes a little more sense with not being able to be booked in Tony's AEW/ROH without a manager. The women's match made less sense. A heel gets made at another heel for doing a heelish act. Not from stealing the win but for keeping a hold on to long.
If Mercedes isn't a heel disregard this statement.

Talking out of her ass backed up by Dave's star system. But she most likely believes what she said every generation always thinks they are better then the past. And she said she couldn't really watch his stuff now and be unbiased which is fair. I get not being able to watch his stuff as that's fair play, I just think given his style, it's ridiculous to say he wouldn't be able to hang with a lot of the top stars in today's wrestling. I guess to each their own and the AEW forum isn't the place to discuss the comments of an Impact Wrestling talent, so I'll leave it at that. I seen Lawler still hang with the modern generation. Benoit absolutely could. The question is would modern stars wrestle him? Benoit was extremely stiff and dangerous. Wrestling really moved on from that style with Regal's influence.
