David McLane (GLOW and past iterations of WOW) just held a presser where it was announced that AJ Lee will serve as executive producer. Tessa Blanchard was present and was the sole focus of the teaser trailer. I guess WOW struck a deal with Viacom and the show will be distributed through CBS affiliates, maybe even Paramount+.

If you guys aren’t familiar, WOW originally aired in the early 00s after David McLane wanted to revitalize his format of character-driven women’s wrestling that he first introduced with GLOW. It utilized a lot of actresses and stunt performers as talent and only produced a couple of stars (Jungle Grrl, Lana Starr and Bobbi Billard who was picked up by WWE but would later file a lawsuit against them after an injury in developmental).

WOW came back about five years ago, same format but with a stronger focus on competition and wrestling. Actors and unknowns were once again utilized as talent in addition to actual established wrestlers (Tessa Blanchard, Gisele Shaw, Kiera Hogan, Jessica Havok, Malia Hosaka, Santana Garrett, Katie Lea, Thunder Rosa).

Some of the actual wrestlers wrestled under new names, ex. Gisele Shaw wrestled as Reyna Reyes and Kiera Hogan went as Fire. I hope this time, there’s less of an emphasis on the hokey tropes and gimmicks and will feature even more known wrestlers in their established personas and that the show will be more of a showcase for talent that we don’t see in the bigger brands.

AJ's involvement definitely makes this an intriguing prospect. You would have to predict that she would look to make the promotion more serious as you allude to Surrender. I saw another article state she will be on commentary too which is cute.

Tessa's continued involvement (from what I understand she utterly dominated the previous incarnation) will raise some eyebrows/put a lot of people off - and while what she did wasn't cool at all, and her lack of remorse even more concerning - she is a tremendous wrestler.

Alex Gracia was the only other name brand woman at their little premier event. 

Damn Punk was not lying when he hinted that AJ had big plans in the works.

With all the girls on the indys a big fed def was needed, so hope they can make this work.

Honestly, I hope they look at WWR+ which is Beyond Wrestling's sister promotion. They've got some girls who are really talented and probably TV ready IMO.

Maybe I'm a bad person for finding this funny but I think you've got to give them some props for doubling down here. Tremendous.

Happy to see AJ Lee back in the business, even if it's in a backstage role. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this.

Also she could lose the title on a show wasn't impact. Pretty sure Omega just did that. And didn't one of those shows have the NWA title on the line and it changed hands.

She had just won the Knockouts title at the time and was the hottest thing in women's wrestling at the time - that's why she won the match. If Chelsea was upset she wasn't booked to win, maybe she shouldn't have walked out on Impact to go to WWE.

She def ain't as straight edge as her boo.

It's pro wrestling, no one is ever permanently cancelled, there was always going to be a carny company or two prepared to book her for the publicity. Marty Scurll has also just resurfaced with a Puerto Rican promotion.

Depends on the severity. Like I doubt Velveteen Dream or any other pedo will get anything serious in wrestling ever again. Racism may be whatever to some, like Hulk Hogan is back in WWE and was the co-host with Titus O'Neill.

The King of Dong Style Joey Ryan is finished too because any hint of his involvement will prompt wrestlers to bow out. It depends on severity, a mistake or two is bad but not career killing. Blanchard did this as a dumb, young, cocky early 20's talent. Not to excuse what she did but this is far less severe than Hulk Hogan or Steve Austin hitting a woman. Ryan has too many women who came out on him, no matter how much The Young Bucks/Elite wanted to back him, they couldn't.

Blanchard is a step better than Ivelisse, Blanchard has some friends in all companies from her TNA days or being cool with The Horsewomen of WWE. It's just the Chelsea Green/Britt Baker/Deonna gals who detest her.
