and he's compared Kota Ibushi to Adolf Hitler. Holy shit Over him wrestling a blowup doll? I believe it though, Cornette threatened Brock Lesnar in OVW and threatened to pull a gun on him and shoot him where he stands for slamming his wife too rough. I thought she was into that kind of thing? Other than Arn are there any vets there? Show? Henry? Taz? To tell them to hey stop fucking around. Or are the evps the top of the ladder so no one gives that bruh moment stare? Other than someone being snarky in WWE it seems there's always drama on this side. Between this, and Cody's promo where he had a biracial daughter so he solved racism forever, and to a much lesser degree their timing problems -- main events cut short because someone goes way over allotted time on a promo or match -- I'm thinking this is a distinct possibility.

In other news, NXT's NYE outdrew AEW Rampage last week, with 685,000 viewers to Rampage's 588,000.
As I said in the NXT thread, it was a very, very good episode of WWE Television.

AJ Styles is the man. Good exposure for Waller too no less. The idea of bringing main roster guys down for a cup of tea in NXT was well done by whoever. Wondering if Cesaro is next and maybe gets a shot at Bron Breakker. EDIT: Oh shit that was this week  Not even much on AJ Styles outside of a confrontation.

You can't be serious? Tuesday is a different day than Friday. 8 pm is a different time than 10 pm. Wednesday is the same day as Wednesday.

Another big drop-off for AEW. Judging by the numbers, fans were keen for MJF/Punk but had no reason to stick with the show otherwise. I know RAW has always struggled with their third hour but for a show like Dynamite that throws so many angles at their fans to keep them interested in the show it feels like they could format their shows better to keep fans around for the main event.

Big Pete, are you not surprised? Look at the booking - literally after 8:30pm, it's a hour and half piss break.

That’s brutal. I’ve noticed them front-loading their shows a lot more in recent weeks. It started with Rampage which was understandable since they presumably wanted to take some of the SmackDown audience, but it’s now extending to Dynamite. It’s strange because the second hour of Dynamite has historically done well, unlike the third of hour of Raw for example.

Reality is, AEW dark got more views than 205 live, yeah that is a stupid comparison

It’s strange because the second hour of Dynamite has historically done well, unlike the third of hour of Raw for example. You're right and it wasn't that long ago I highlighted the Holiday Bash episode which began with Adam Cole vs. Orange Cassidy which drew a good number and finished with Punk/Sting/Darby vs. The Pinnacle in a hot main event that drew a strong number for AEW.
I don't want to get it twisted, AEW should absolutely feature more matches like Dante Martin vs. Powerhouse Hobbs and Daniel Garcia vs. Sammy Guevara. However they need to be smart about where they're formatted and presenting those stars in the right fashion. Take the Acclaimed for example, it's good that they finally got another win on Dynamite after a year. However just like last time, we know that they only won to give them some credibility before they lose to Sting & Darby Allin. It's something AEW does all the time and when you condition fans in that way they're not going to be invested in the result.

We're otherwise talking in purely the American television ratings. The most up to date numbers : Smackdown : 2.271 million (previous week) RAW : 1.633 million AEW Dynamite : 969,000 NXT 2.0 : 647,000 AEW Rampage : 588,000 (previous week) So two wins for WWE and double points for NXT jumping a bracket and getting the win over Rampage.

But no one is claiming AEW won the war against WWE. They won the war against NXT. That was a legitimate competition. Two shows on at the same time on the same platform. I get what you’re saying but you need to realise everyone agrees with you. Nobody thinks Dynamite is more popular than SmackDown.

I mean, you are the only one framing this in the way you are. And it is not a fair comparison at all as even running the shows at different times starts to add in confounding variables.
Frankly WWE should be beating AEW though because they spend two to three times what AEW does per minute of television they produce. The fact they are not doing better, and the year to year loss of viewers should be very concerning to them.

You're right, there is no war.
AEW aren't even in the fight. As much as The Cult of Khan thinks they are.

I mean, really you are the only one insistent on comparing them here at this point. Most of us get they are two different products for two different audiences. Vince took wrestling and made it ad friendly with sports entertainment. AEW is offering a wrestling product that is not aimed at children.
You make it seem like having two companies on TV is an awful thing and only the best should exist, which is seriously absurd as there always have been multiple feds. Difference is people can watch high quality indy style wrestling now for free on TV.

Because I love it...
AEW Dynamite, last Friday night averaged 477,000 viewers in the fast nationals ratings. The previous week, they did 588,000 if I recall. The free-fall continues. The apparent final number is about 3.5% higher.. so here's hoping they don't embarrass themselves again.
NXT 2.0, the apparent worse show on television, potentially in all of space and time did... 647,000 viewers on Tuesday night.

Good week for Dynamite, it beat the RAW demo and topped the NBA games on ESPN.
I'd put it down to a strong opening segment. Fans were excited to see one of the biggest stars back on television and were curious to hear what they say. They followed it up with Cole/Cassidy and Punk/MJF which are two of their biggest attractions and fans also tuned into what a returning Cody had to say as well. Once again they dipped out in the second hour but not as dramatically as week's gone by.

They're literally booking backwards. Sting/Allin v The Acclaimed to open and work backwards until Cole/Baker v Cass/Kris and Moxley's return. Instead they blew their load in the first minutes and lost 200,000 viewers before Jericho sobered up for his promo.

AEW Rampage rating was up for Jon Moxley's return.
The show averaged 594,000 viewers and drew a 0.24 rating in the 18-49 demo.
Tuesday’s live edition of WWE NXT 2.0 drew 587,000 viewers on the USA Network.
They finally did it, AEW's B Show beat WWE's developmental territory. Just.

So obviously Moxley's return match was a draw and it attracted more fans than usual.
Also worth noting that SmackDown drew it's highest ratings since September, so that may have played a factor as well.

Wednesday’s live Beach Break edition of AEW Dynamite drew 1.100 million viewers on TBS, according to Nielsen via Showbuzz Daily.
Gimmicks work. Even if it's called 'Beach Break' and the beach is on a lake and not a real beach.. with an ocean.
