AEW has been awesome lately with Danielson and Punk and others, but overall WWE still has better wrestlers and matches. I think a lot of people are on a dopamine kick with AEW and all the exciting matches and whatnot but WWE still has AJ Styles, Roman Reigns, Nakamura, Asuka, Owens, Cesaro, USOs, etc.
WWE is still the pinnacle

NATH45, do you enjoy watching WWE more than AEW? Both are ok... There are a number of things I do like about AEW. I like the aesthetic more, and feel WWE is too over produced. The incorporation of 'real' music is a great decision. AEW also has a group of cool young kids to build around in Sammy, Britt, Darby, etc and with the addition of 3/4 of the UE, Black and Almas - that's very cool. AEW also ticked a lot if boxes particularly around Punk and Danielson's debuts, so in saying that... they are in a good place. Cody needs to go however. He is almost damaging to the brand at this point. He is literally a reason not to watch. The Bucks also at this point in their careers should be putting over a handful of 20-something teams - but choose to look and act like people any parent would be nervous leaving their children alone with them. That and they throw stones and live in glass houses. TK and his supporters will manipulate demo figures to poke at WWE. And in reality, AEW isn't even in the ballpark of WWE ratings. The Rhodes spew some of the most brain-dead, pompous bullshit - yet, quit social media because, its the people who are toxic. The Bucks did the same a few years ago, after being a couple of obnoxious jackasses for years.. but it's the people who are toxic. In short, AEW does so much to initiate a negative response. Thus why social media is in two camps. And it's not necessarily "pro WWE = anti AEW" either. Or Dave Meltzer v Jim Cornette's influences. Fix some of these opportunities. Remove the VPs from TV and build some angles that don't blow off in less than a month and they might eventually crack the million again.

To be fair to the Bucks, they haven't mainstayed their self on television as much as they possibly could have. It's a nice refresher when they aren't on because all of their shit stinks.
I'm also over the lucha bros as well. When you throw the rules out for the sake of high spots it kinda sucks imo.

I'm also over the lucha bros as well. When you throw the rules out for the sake of high spots it kinda sucks imo. I'm so conflicted when it comes to the Bucks.
On one hand, they didn't position themselves as the ace tag team and they've usually picked the right times to step away from the limelight.
On the other, the tag team division is their project and it's one of the weakest divisions in AEW. The two teams that they put over in Santana & Ortiz and Private Party didn't benefit at all from it and their inaugural tag team champions were Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky. I feel this needs to be repeated because nobody really remembers it. Since then the division has been dominated by makeshift teams and the one dream match they had as a division ended up being pretty underwhelming in FTR vs. The Bucks. Just one and done, but at least Meltzer liked it.
I rated the Bucks as one of the greatest tag teams of all-time and I stand by that. However I recognise they're a niche team and they're not a versatile team. They've been doing the same act for over 10 years at this point and I can't see them changing it anytime soon. They're act to me would be a good under-neath team to pad the show out and give fans a fast-paced tag team match to lift the show up or get the show off to a nice pace. When you start booking them in storylines, they can't handle it because they can't act. Their coping mechanism is to be ironic as possible and it buries whatever story they're trying to tell.
I agree the Lucha Bros are also very niche. I can accept them in the same way as a RVD/Sabu or Eliminators type outfit. If they can go all out, then let them but there is a ceiling on that. I'm still not a fan of the presentation and think Alex distracts from their act and makes them kind of corny. I'd much rather see Fenix pushed as a single and having a run with the TNT Championship.

They finally did it. Dynamite got 1.020 million viewers this past week. They cracked the million.
But ratings don't matter. Not at least to TK.. it's not like he's put it all over Twitter.
Monday’s live WWE RAW drew an average of 1.553 million viewers as a comparison.

That's honestly a great number. I'm willing to put it down to the star studded main event and the hype of Page/Danielson and the interest of what was coming next.

No hockey probably helped, but I would credit it to CM Punk doing something relevant and exciting in the ring for once. Book your stars like stars and good things will happen.

3/4 of the Undisputed Era could be a sleeper hit for ratings. AEW loves a stable, and these guys could be Shield like attractions. Book them like The Shield and let then run through every bastard on the roster. And it would be magical.

As a Canadian west coaster who has always watched wrestling live not in prime time, I legit don't understand this. I kind of don't get the big deal being made of some of the dynamite ratings fluctuations. Is a million that much different than 900k? Yes I know its 10 percent, but is10 percent fluctuations that exceptional? 800k - 1million seems same same to me

A million is obviously a nice milestone and is far more attractive to advertisers. To be able to achieve that during the holiday season after the switch is a pretty good effort.

Running the garden tonight was a mistake. This is not lack of ticket sales but NYC COVID mandates likely coming into play and fear. 3% of NYC is testing positive for COVID each day.

Both pics are misleading. Ticket site showed 50% of tickets sold. That pic does not show the empty side.

AEW with another 1,000,000+ rating and the TBS Championship drew the second highest rating of the night. You could even argue it was the highest since that first quater may have included 100,000 Big Bang Theory watchers who were too slow on the dial.

I don't really like quarter-hours because they're presenting an average for a small amount of time. I would prefer peak viewership for small periods like quarters or minutes but we don't have access to that. That said, it's clear that the BBT lead-in caused the spike at the start. Usually good matches keep or increase average viewership so I wouldn't attribute the drop to the wrestling.

To average over a million for six quarters is pretty good for this day and age. The concern would be the main event especially in line with the trend in viewership where it went way down when usually the main event holds strong. I wonder if the TBS Championship had have main evented whether it would have faired better with total viewers?

In his defense, he was being called a pedo for working with young girls in Japan. Guy was accusing him of molesting Riho.
Wrestling fans can dish it out, but second a wrestler claps back they get all butthole and scream about it.

Twitter is a cesspool but an EVP of a company can’t be talking about touching children even if he’s being smart and ironic. The optics of it are terrible.

The problem Omega has is he thinks anybody who has criticism of him is affiliated or is with Jim Cornette. Cornette didn't even mention Omega since he's left TV but he got brought up in this conversation for some unbeknownst reason
