Pretty wild this is happening. I never expected that things would change this much this quickly with Haitch in charge.
Also kinda hilarious that a WWE wrestler got an inter-promotional match before Bryan Danielson did. To be fair it’s Danielson’s own fault for choosing not to work in Japan while cheering was banned but still.

Bryan had inner knowall of what was going down in WWE, he wanted the freedom in the ring to bleed and go 100%, he got what he wanted. Think it's a missed opportunity for him admittedly but hey.

Yeah Bryan got what he wanted. WWE offered him Japan, but Bryan wanted more than just Japan. Very likely we get Okada vs Bryan in the nearish future as both guys really want that match.

Like Tony wanted him not working the West Coast, then not working NJPW before Forbidden Door, then some other BS.

Like Tony wanted him not working the West Coast, then not working NJPW before Forbidden Door, then some other BS. It was both. Bryan Danielson wanted to do some DEFY dates but Tony told him not until he went to the west coast with AEW first. And they're only just now announcing California and Seattle dates. NJPW wanted him in the G1 this year but Danielson didn't want to perform over there for the first time when cheering was banned. Moxley and Hangman were also requested but Tony wouldn't let them leave because of all the major injuries in AEW at the time. Ended up just being Archer going because AEW didn't need him and Yuta was allowed to go to the BOSJ tournament.

Yeah it was a mess. And may be a costly one if HHH reaches out. He gives them AJ for a big event, he could get Okada vs AJ or Nakamura at WM. Also Karl Anderson still has that belt IIRC and they may like to keep using them.
AEW may have more of their past stars, but WWE will expose their guys to a far bigger audience.

It sounds almost ridiculous thinking someone like Okada will appear in WWE for Wrestlemania, but when you consider the Latino audience the WWE went after with Bad Bunny (despite 90% of wrestling fans having no clue who he was) and how big the Japanese market is for wrestling, it doesn't sound like a bad idea.
I'd personally aim for Royal Rumble, and pair him with Nakamura against The Usos to see how big a reaction this guy would get in a WWE environment first, and if the place gives him a "Cody" Pop, then Okada v Styles at Wrestlemania for sure.

I mean, he would not headline, but mid card match between Okada and Styles would be huge in Japan, and give HHH one of the classic WK 5 star matches he had wanted to have on WM.
Okada in the US usually gets big reactions. Enough people know him to get the wrestling scene buzzing. Also he has a very WWE friendly style, so new fans can get into him quickly. Debut him with his traditional entrance and he is an instant star. Can do something like AJ using the Rainmaker as a finisher before his debut to get fans familiar with his finisher too.
That said, I would fucking love to see Reigns vs Okada and have Reigns just level him. The setup could be amazing as well, with Reigns refusing to defend the title because he beat everyone WWE has to offer, repeatedly, leading to Okada coming out. I know people will say it is a stupid idea, since it would be a main event, but Okada does not have to work there again after, so Reigns could truly destroy him decisively for the finish since there does not need to be a rematch ever. No downside for Okada either to lose in front of millions of fans, most who would have never seen him otherwise.

Brodus Clay is a World Champion. Jim Cornette has likely put a tennis racket through a television.

Big guy who is believeable and for whatever reason is always on TV... I don't see a problem with that. Plus it's not like it's a title most will ever see in their lifetime.

Planet Tyrus has brought eyeballs and some media attention to NWA, just maybe not for all the right reasons. Will be seeing that prestigious NWA belt all over FOX News this Monday. Wonder if Glenn Jacobs will challenge for the NWA belt if he isn't on a legends deal or if he can talk HHH into it.

@admin I miss your NWA reviews, wish to see you smash all over this. I wanna see EC3 and CYN try and jump Planet Tyrus and get a feud over this for the strap.

I like Billy but this move screams shock value for the sake of it. To be contrarian for a negligible gain is dumb.

It pains me to give Mickie James any credit, but my main takeaway from this was she deserves all the flowers for making Empower happen if this was what Billy thought about it the whole time. Women's wrestling was always one of the best things that NWA did, and especially so after they lost most of their best talent during the pandemic. If Corgan wasn't aware of that then he's clearly a total moron.

Now for many more years to come Bordus will be compared to many NWA champions. He will join the elite list of Jack Brisco, Lou Thesz, Dory Funk, Harley Race and Ric Flair as NWA Champions. Join me in congratulating Bordus on joining such a high profile club.

After a somewhat lacklustre BOLA entrant announcement week, the final two entrants were announced tonight and they are Konosuke Takeshita & El Hijo de Vikingo.
If Takeshita doesn’t win I’ll be stunned.

Well I watched The Great Muta’s last match against Shinsuke Nakamura. It wasn’t the best match ever but it was really touching and an excellent send off. Nakamura making his grand entrance in a NOAH arena was a sight to see, and Muta put on a good display. The finish was the perfect amount of crazy, and Muta’s comments after the match were the icing on the cake.
Hope he enjoys retirement. What a career.
And because this has to be watched anytime Muta is mentioned:
