I wanted to post something that was AAA-related and realized there's really nowhere to post it. And since a AAA thread would average about 3 posts a year, I didn't see a reason to make one. And I'm sure other wrestling stuff outside of the big, active companies right now will come along. So use this thread for all your general wrestling chat!

Kenny Omega is defending the AAA Mega Championship against El Hijo del Vikingo on Dec 4th. If you're unfamiliar with him, get familiar, because the second Omega won this title the fans were screaming for this match. And now it's happening.

Something interesting I came across while looking at the Mega Championship wiki, Kenny Omega is already the 2nd longest-reigning Mega Champion in AAA history. He passed the first Mega Champion (who also has the most reigns at 4) El Mesias 9 days ago. He's also going to pass El Texano Jr. for longest single reign in 5 days. El Texano Jr. holds the record for most days as champion and Omega could pass him too if he defends successfully against Vikingo.

Little trivia there for ya.

It means "son of" in Spanish and it's a thing luchadors do, which is why it is so common. Rey Mysterio's cousin is the first-born son of Rey Misterio, Sr. and wrestles under the name El Hijo de Rey Mysterio, or "Son Of Rey Mysterio."

It's to go along with the whole mythical superhero aura luchadors have. Like how Thor's last name is Odinson because he's Odin's son.

Nah. An Aussie wrestler retired today basically burying everyone in Aussie wrestling and complaining they get paid less despite being more talented than other people. Complete with a story I know to be false as I was there as events occurred.

I told sandylea I’ll retire when I’m 50 but we all know it’s like the mafia, there’s always one more job to do.

Does anyone follow MLW these days?

I feel like there's a lot of hidden gems and transitional talent mixed in with too much "meh" and "gtfo my screen". If only they could just trim off some of the fat (no pun intended)

Cesar Duran makes it almost followable though...

Then he botched his NXT tryout trying to big league them, was in TNA hell for a bit and then disappeared. A legit case of "LOL Thought he was dead". With wrestlers it really is outta sight outta mind.

Paramedic, it was something he'd been talking about since 2011 (although firefighter was also brought up around the same time).

It was amazing how quickly Davey went from being 'the best in the world' to one of the most toxic names in the business. I feel like he had an opportunity in the early 2010s to make a name for himself but he burned so many bridges and when he was given a shot he didn't really make the most of it. If he had have just stayed the course, he would have been so much more successful. That wouldn't pan out, but the fans wouldn't blame him and he'd be ripe for AEW and been one of their featured guys when they were desperate for talent.

Countless wrestlers got outed for sexual harassment and statutory rape in 2020 and almost all are still getting booked so not surprised.
