Dynamite's in the wrestling capital of the world tonight!
Bryan Danielson's Dark Order headhunting continues tonight, with Atlanta's own V squaring off with the #1 contender for the World's Title.
Plus, the final quarterfinal in the TBS Championship. The winner of tonight's match between Kris Statlander and Ruby Soho, will face Nyla Rose in the semifinals.
And in tonight's main event, the city of Atlanta* will be the playground for Cody Rhodes and Andrade El Idolo. As these two will square off in a street fight.

More gold with Punk and MJF.
I wonder if Dynamite will outdraw RAW next week at that new arena?

Sick of all these ex-WWE superstars burying AEW talent.
(that's only half sarcastic...I really wanted Statlander to win)

Poor Cody with that botch Do not think it was a botch. Cody took the fire so Andre did not have to. Weird ass finish though. Like why go over after taking a bump on fire. Fire botches when they go wrong tend to go REALLY wrong.

Wow, I fucking hate MJF. And not in the way he wants me to. His heel work is boring, his promos are lazy, the Britt Baker comments were gross, and he ruined a match I was genuinely looking forward to because he just buried everyone.

Here I was waiting to see what offensive thing MJF did and the most audacious thing he said didn't even rate a mention in your post? Stating that Punk has a crush on Britt is just typical low-hanging trash talk, I don't see what's gross about it in a Pro Wrestling context.
I can understand a Michinoku or Emperor feeling of indifference because the promo was pretty mid but enough to illicit bad heat?
Who did he bury? QT Marshall? Oh no, please comeback, please don't bury QT.
I was ready mate, I had the pitchforks packed and over this? Give me something better like the completely unnecessary finish to Cody/Andrade.

I’ve always thought fire is dumb in wrestling because it doesn’t inhibit your ability to kick out of a pin. It’s even more stupid when the guy winning the match goes through the flaming table and his opponent hits the mat. Reeks of Cody wanting to prove himself to the AEW fans.
The MJF/Punk stuff fell short this week for me. And while I wouldn’t go as far as KitN, I didn’t love MJF on commentary because all he did was deliver shock jock one liners and bury lower card talent.
All in all, not the best show. I really enjoyed Danielson but I missed JR and the crowd, after being red hot for Hangman, was dead for most of the night.

The problem with fire is it is usually weak fire that goes out fast without causing much damage or people badly hurt. There is like no middle ground. I know back in the day people would buy the wrong lighter fluid and guys would get hurt at shows when the table would not go out when you went through as grill starter fluid continues to burn for a while. The mix up happens more than people like to admit though still and can see the different when you know what to look for when the fires are started.
My take always been fire while it looks cool is a long setup for little payoff. Prefer people spit fire if they want to use it as a fireball is a short setup for a much cooler image.

He overshot it to get Andre clear of the fire so only he would take the fire. Was protecting Andre basically. Look at it this way and he took the table perfectly.

Not that Alex Jones looking motherfucker, you eejit, Lee Moriarty! The guy Punk was having a match with and was trying to put over and make look good in a match I was really looking forward to, but I couldn't fucking focus on it because Max just wouldn't shut the fuck up about how Punk should have beaten Lee in five seconds, and he just absolutely HAD to get his oh-so-clever "PG Punk" catchphrase in every five seconds and hammer home that "meth" line again because it's literally all he has because his gimmick is being a Facebook comments section except he isn't allowed to say explicit slurs (but you know he would if he could). Like, genuinely, what did MJF say on commentary that he didn't restate in his little promo because he's a 0-dimensional little hack? Punk could have just wrestled the match and then MJF could have come out after the fact, and the only thing that would change is that people would actually be able to enjoy that match. Also, Britt Baker is the Women's World Champion, the face of the fucking division, one of the most over acts in the entire company. Max reducing her to a sex object fucking sucks, and the fact that they immediately went to a Britt Baker promo and the first words out of her mouth weren't "Max keep my name out of your fucking mouth or I'll kill you" is ludicrous.

Danielson’s heel work is so fucking good - he’s gone from being a baby face to number one heel in the company within 3 weeks. The muscle flexing at the end capped off a dominant heel display.
Punk/Moriarty was so much fun. I hadn’t seen much of Lee before this but he hung really well with Punk and had some great moments. The near falls reversals at the end and Punk’s set up for the GTS were both fantastic. MJF’s barbs weren’t as great this week, and Punk wasn’t at his usual best either but still enjoying this feud and what lies next. I was waiting for someone to mention Punk’s dog Larry as a heel move, makes sense it’s MJF. Can’t wait for Punk to go John Wick on his ass.
As for the following few weeks, can see Punk on commentary for MJF’s Diamond Ring match next week before beating Spears and Wardlow to go 10-0 before he faces MJF.

Ok I have to admit that I skipped straight to the promo in anticipation what mean ol' Max said to get buried and completely skipped the match. To be fair to me, it was CM Punk the biggest star in the company vs. 2-6 (that's even including Dark) Moriarty who's one television match to date was a tag team match where he lost to a tag team that seemingly no longer exists. Dare I say that TK's booking buried Lee before MJF even opened his mouth? In fact wouldn't it suggest that since MJF was given the OK by TK that it highlights again the class disparity between 'the elite' and 'the rest'? Gee, how could the 1% find themselves so out of touch?
But sure ban MJF from commentary but dead-set he was no worse than Adam Page who buried himself and ruined Alan Angels vs. Bryan Danielson. In fact I'd argue that Hangman's commentary did more damage than MJF voicing TK's anxieties about his booking of 'The Best In The World'.
This is why you're one of my favourite fan fic writers and it was weird that Britt's promo was also extremely forgettable and also very one note. She's still doing the conspiracy stuff yeah? As far as MJF I don't know the whole 'she won't sleep with you' response after Punk keeps bringing her up unprovoked to insult MJF seems like typical trash talk. It was kind of weird for a babyface to put a heel over like that in the first place, but then again AEW is extremely weird when it comes to babyfaces and heels.

Sounds like KITN would pay to see MJF get his ass beat. That would require MJF wrestling more than four times a year and for MJF to ever lose, or look the fool, or eat shit. He told Pillman Jr that his dad sucks and is in hell and that he never should have been born and his crackhead whore mother should have just given Pillman Sr a blowjob and then Pillman never got any heat on him and he tapped Pillman out clean as a sheet. He's the most protected wrestler in the last twenty years and in no fucking universe does he deserve it.

Like, sure, the booking hasn't given you that moment YET... but say the day comes where MJF is pitted against Daniel Bryan for the world title, and word afterwards is DB murdered MJF even more ruthlessly than Lesnar murdered Cena at SummerSlam... You wouldn't part with some dimes to check out the replay? I'm just kind of lost on what you think is an effective heel. But I also admit the modern era product, at least outside WWE, is totally lost on me. Maybe there aren't faces and heels anymore per se, especially with the advent of social media?

Fuck, saw Cody's back. Table spot went well in theory, he was trying to clear Andre. He had on flame retardant, and it fucking failed or something. His entire back where the retardant was blistered with first degree burns and he has a two inch second degree burn were that piece of plastic was stuck to him. He is going to be in fucking agony the rest of this week.
Edit:
Fuck me, figured it out. Table was finished with a plastic layer to make it easy to clean. Said plastic when you light on fire sticks to you. Was not where the retardant was that was burned him but where the plastic got on him. Three seconds is enough time to expose skin to lighter fluid fires and not get burned and was about what he was exposed to the fire for. Mix in plastic however and the heat from the fire remains on you. Why when you fire walk you spend forever cleaning the area to make sure it is plastic and metal free.
Funny they worry like crazy about a lame controlled explosion, then half ass a fire stunt, which is one of the legit most dangerous things to do in wrestling because of how many times fire goes wrong in unpredictable ways.

I teased earlier, but Lee is actually an exciting prospect but I think your post highlights the perception of him being just another lowly rookie.

Danielson running through the Dark Order is brilliant precisely because it's Brian Danielson. He's so damn good in the ring that I can't imagine anyone else making this work as well as he does. An extra benefit is that it's showcasing Dark Order's wrestlers in a new way. Previously they are all together and I can barely tell them apart. A lot of them look alike and I've never cared enough to pay much attention. They're just there. Now I'm paying attention, and Alan Angels really impressed me. I can't tell if this is some sort of irony or sarcasm that's gone over my head, but how did Hangman bury himself? He barely said a word, not sure how that could ruin a match. MJF's commentary was fine. He was just doing his shtick on commentary. I was kinda amused, but more importantly I almost feel like he has a point. The match is essentially top star vs jobber, and they had a 50/50 competitive match. MJF has squashed jobbers like that in very short time before. Sure Punk is putting the guy over, but is it too much? Look at how Danielson beat Angels. Angels got time to shine but Danielson made it clear he was vastly superior. This match, not so much. It had the same level of competitiveness as the Darby Allin match. You could argue that Moriarty wrestled the best match of his life, but it wasn't quite enough. You could also argue that Punk is still rusty so he can't win matches as efficiently, he has to grind them out. I've digressed, the point is MJF was just being MJF. If you hate MJF like KITN does, you will hate the commentary, but he didn't do anything crude. My quibbles aside, I really enjoyed the Punk/Moriarty match. I know it's cool to dislike Billy Gunn, but I kinda like him in AEW. My memories of him from the late 90s/early 2000s are that he's not such a big guy, but that was in WWF. In AEW he dwarfs the competition. He has a great physique, and he's competent at being a menacing heel. I also feel like they should have ended the match with Colten pinning Sting after the Fameasser. That would have been shocking, kept Gunn Club undefeated, and given them a meaningful win. Instead the predictable happened. Why does Sting need to look so strong? No idea. Feel like this was a missed opportunity. Liked the Statlander/Soho match, disappointed at the result.
