At the final RoH show FTR came in and attacked the Brisceos.  Likely the feud will continue in AEW as FTR been tainting them on twitter for weeks now.  Brisceos are the final RoH champions.  

Unsure where it goes, but Rocky Romero unleashed the Titan, Braun Strowman, as well in RoH.  Likely be a New Japan angle, but could play out in AEW as well.

About time! this is exciting news! I can't wait. MAN UP!

One More Run for the Road?

It’s insane that it’s taken this long for the Briscoes to get into a mainstream company but this is great news. Some great matches for them in AEW and style-wise they’ll provide some much needed balance to the division.

There is a host of reasons why they were not taken.  First and foremost by 2004 Mark had multiple bad concussions, generally from SSP botches.  Jay over the years has gotten a few as well.  Then, there various hard right tweets made like gay marriage getting married isn't right and he will shoot anyone who teaches his kids it is.  Plus that whole confederate flag period they went through turns many off.

But when Lethal came in, Brisceos were backstage and rumor is they signed.  Bubba was pushing for them hard as well.  Curious to see if there is backlash or not.  Not heard any locker room drama about them that I can remember and plenty in AEW have worked with them.  Rumors are that they were held off a RoH show when they tried to do a vaccine mandate for refusing to be vaccinated though.

Both guys though are timebombs, one bad head drop away from serious injury.  And they have that Drake Younger level of alt right stuff constantly swirling around them.  They were never overlooked, but reviewed repeatedly, by many companies and purposely turned down.  I know JR tried to get them signed when Mark turned 18 and then it was the concussion issue.  Then the Southern look was the issue.  Then their tweets were the issue.  

So who knows what will happen with them, but I do not expect them to be around for long.  That said, they will fucking massive in Mexico.

Yeah didn't Jay's first title run in ROH end because of the gay tweets, although the story they told with it was great. Loved the Briscoes, 2007 was my favorite year in ROH and they felt on par or even more important than the world title. Always liked Jay as a performer, but fuck it give that chicken farm one last payday.

Not sure if his first, but one did after the gay bashing tweets.

I can go either way with them if they are healthy. I do not respect them as it is clear they are redneck filth, but if they can mesh with the locker room and learned what they cannot say on social media, be an idiot to not use them. Would get a medical opinion though first. Mark's brain has to be partial scrambled.

The question is will Tony risk them as you know damn well the second they debut people will be reposting the old tweets.

My hope is that they get as much out of them in a short period of time. The Brisoces are one of the most entertaining acts, but if they bring them in only to use them to feature other tag teams it'll be a waste. Like I can see a scenario where The Briscoes attack The Lucha Bros. they hype up a match between the two only for The Briscoes to lose and then you barely see them on TV after that unless they get caught up in some Dark storyline involving the Matt Hardy brand.

My hope is that they give The Briscoes their own spot in the company so you can do tag team storylines outside of the championship and feature some teams that could do with the opportunity. Depending on how it works, you can decide to put the tag team titles on them, or have them put over a team and ride off into the sunset.

I've seen the idea floated around, but I'd hate to see an ROH Invasion Storyline. I don't think AEW is really situated for it and I don't think branding somebody as an ROH guy features them in the best light.

With the influx of talent, I wouldn't do a brand split per se, but I would do a soft roster split and try to pair wrestlers off in their own divisions. AEW kind of loosely does this already, the difference here is that I wouldn't have a CM Punk vs. Lee Moriarty match, even though Lee got some exposure from it. I would do a Daniel Garcia vs. Lee Moriarty match, they get 10 minutes and we're building the show up.

I think the concern with having that 'young lions' division is that there is potential for it to become like the WCW Cruiserweights where they just can't shake the stigma off. The solution is really simple, if they get over, you push them and invest in them. You get them better gear, better music and you dedicate more effort into their storylines. The prime example is somebody like a Steve Corino in ECW who went from an opening act borderline manager into a champion in just over a year.

Brisceos do not need RoH to get over. The whole redneck gimmick sells itself. As do the Brisceos themselves. Give them FTR and a good chunk of time and see what happens. Frankly if someone NEEDS to be branded as a RoH it is a sign they are not ready.

Also frankly, outside of a few people, I doubt AEW will be taking in too many of the RoH. If they just got buried by WWE in offers to Owens, they clearly are not looking to take on millions in more expenses.

ROH should just be like ECW in 2001. Take the handful of good talent and then move on until your next reunion show.

Nope. Not sure why, it was all set up, then died. Both in AEW and AAA. But this happens a lot with them.

I never expected them to actually join AEW. Maybe they still will one day but I’ve always thought they were too much of a liability for mainstream TV. They don’t strike me as team players, they’re too outspoken about their beliefs, and the only reason they were so successful in ROH is because they had no one else.
