I know we in past years as a collective subforum had done some sort of countdown but I figure it might be best to just have a dedicated thread encouraging discussion of your favorite games that came out in 2021 and why.
It can be top 10 or just a run down of your standouts. Remasters are fine, new releases of course are fine. Anything that came out in the year 2021 works.
Maybe in a few days maybe we do a gaming resolutions of 2022 but lets send the year 2021 out with a bang. Will try and rank a dedicated top 10 for myself personally(I may have said it in a previous thread) shortly! I stay away from remasters on my list but more so try and focus on brand new releases.

Good initiative Blindy.
I'm really looking forward to your list. Unfortunately I didn't play too many 2021 releases, but there's stacks that have my interest that I'd love to get around to at some point like Kaze and the Wild Masks.
In all honestly, I've only played through one 2021 release in Tales of Arise. I'm still chugging through Shin Megami Tensei V and the other games I bought this year were remakes so I really don't have a ton to add to the conversation.
As I said there's plenty of games on my radar still and games like Metroid Dread, Monster Hunter Rises, Hitman 3, Psychonauts 2, No More Heroes III, NEO: The World Ends With You, Lost Judgement, Resident Evil VIII, Ratchet and Clank Rifts Apart, Returnal, Forza Horizon 5 etc. are on my radar
If I made an effort to play through all the major releases, I'd be surprised if Arise remained the best game of 2021. It was an enjoyable entry in the series and gave it a much needed face-lift but it was lacking in some areas. I didn't enjoy the boost attack mechanic that would turn battles into a game of Simon Says and I didn't like how bosses couldn't be staggered making you rely more on boost attacks. Plus some of the attacks are just broken, with Alphen's Boost and Reigning Slash being by far the most optimal way to beat most boss encounters.

This year(2021) was more so me taking on my backlog more than anything, I think I played less than 13 or so 2021 games. I did however add to my backlog a crap ton of games. That's the way it has been for me, I played a lot of 2020 games this 2021 year. Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Cyberpunk 2077, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Hades etc.
If I had to comprise a list I would have it as..............
1) Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart 2) Shin Megami Tensei V(This reserves the right to go higher or lower, am about 33-35 hours in, slow burn but not of the game's fault!) 3) Kaze & The Wild Masks 4) Psychonauts 2 5) Metroid Dread 6) Dodgeball Academia 7) Ghosts N Goblins: Resurrection 8) Bowser's Fury DLC 9) Returnal(This could go higher or lower, so torn with this game) 10) Record of Lodoss War: Deedit in Wonder Labrynth ---------------------------------------------------- Kena: Bridge of Spirits Cyber Shadow

1. Deathloop 2. NieR Replicant 3. Griftlands 4. Resident Evil 8 5. Suzerain 6. Tales of Arise 7. Inscryption 8. Returnal 9. Guardians of the Galaxy 10. The Artful Escape
2021 was another great year for video games!! But this year should be even better. It could be another 2017.

So that's a top 15
