Cole probably should but it won't be granted anyways so doesn't benefit from asking for it.

Cole probably should but it won't be granted anyways so doesn't benefit from asking for it. Why? He gets to play with his friends and be closer to his girlfriend and is probably making close to what he made in WWE. Hell he might be making more since he can stream whenever he wants now. If it’s about him not being used it’s because he’s injured. And everyone he was involved in storylines with is either hurt or suspended.

Buddy Matthews is “done with AEW for a while,” according to SRS.
Not surprising. Tony only hired him as a favour to Malakai and Buddy took dates in Australia without clearing it first. Felt like it was only a matter of time.

Felt like it was only a matter of time. A couple more guys should be disappearing soon as well. Reports are in addition to Black a few others asked for their releases. I am assuming these were Andrade and Buddy Matthews. Rudy I can see wanting to go back as well. This is why Tony was pissed about WWE poaching though, HHH contacted a bunch of his former students to see when they could return. Miro and Pac obviously have no intention of returning. Miro should, but he was the one who let Tony know what was up. And Pac, yeah, WWE burned him so bad he will never go back. Also reports are Tony is planning to buy out Punk's contract and sever all future ties with him. Cole and O'Reilly are not going anywhere. Both are good friends with the Bucks. And O'Reilly can team with Cole for a team, but really, it is time for him to go solo. Fish really held him back. WWE saw it, and AEW was even putting him in single's matches before he got hurt.

Think AEW would be wise to transition this to become the House of Hart. Maybe that is touchy with Martha Hart and Bret but hey.

Honestly, Tony should let whoever wants out, leave. They do not want to be there, and likely will stop showing up sooner or later anyway, so why the fuck do you want to pay hundreds of thousands just to prevent them from going to WWE to lose to Reigns.

I think Tony brought it on himself by allowing Cody to defect over to WWE, Rhodes built a lot of strong ties with a lot of the AEW originals and talent in there. Seeing how much damage Cody did upon arrival gives hope to a lot of these underutilized talents that they got a shot in WWE.
I imagine the smear campaign Tony, Jericho and The Elite did when Cody left probably didn't sit well with some folks.

Outside of MJF, seems the people that want to go to WWE are HHH's guys. And we all know MJF is a WWE star. AEW got him noticed, but his destiny is in WWE. And once he jumps, he will likely be in WWE until he dies. He really gives off Bobby the Brain vibes in when he is done wrestling, he can manage, produce or do commentary.
But the NXT guys that HHH saw as the future of the business of course will want to return, because they know HHH had total faith in them, something that Tony will not say, because he favors indy guys from the 2000's.

Also nothing would have really stopped Cody's defection. I assume Golddust follows him sooner or later, mostly working backstage. WWE owns their dad's legacy though, so if they want to honor it, they kind of have to do it there. Tony just cannot offer that. Cody's demands from Tony were too unrealistic too. No one should ever book their own title runs again. That was like the single most toxic part of the old school wrestling days. If Cody wanted to book, he should have been prepared to step away from the ring. HHH will demand the same thing from him. Likely when he stops wrestling though he goes to NXT as a trainer. Kidd Bandit says he is an amazing trainer and says he is responsible really for him having the career he has now.

It was how they made fun of Rhodes on his way out and how Cody kept quiet that I assume makes AEW look petty to some talent backstage. Sonny Kiss was a huge fan of Cody. I think Wardlow liked him. Guevara got to do whatever he wanted in the ring with Rhodes. There's quite a few fans of Cody and Brandi backstage.

MJF said the whole Cody leaving AEW drama was very overblown by dirtsheets and Jericho said he could see it coming. Elite took potshots, but the reaction backstage was basically this is wrestling and this happens, and Cody was in that spot where it was in his interest to leave.

Omega too was the one who laid out clearly why Cody left. They started AEW with a unified vision to present a different type of wrestling. But they never actually sat down and talked about what that style would be, and while the Bucks and Omega wanted essentially PWG, Cody wanted NWA. Tony sided with the Elite vision and Cody was the odd man out among the EVPs. And his vision was more WWE than what AEW became. Which is why guys like Jericho said they saw it coming from months.
So like dirtsheets were utterly shocked, but even the fans knew something was really off with Cody for months before he left. People just assumed an EVP would not walk, and that since Cody started the whole AEW vs WWE stuff he was ultimately loyal, when it was a all a gimmick. I seriously doubt he has ill will towards AEW, and if WWE does not work out, will come back as a trainer and wrestler without the EVP stuff.

From Buddy:
"Unfortunately, tonight, I'm going to be the bearer of some unfortunate news. As everyone knows, the House of Black has had some issues lately. As all the members of the house, I'm speaking for them all, we want to thank you all for being members of the house. Unfortunately, I, like some of the other members, need to go away for a while. I need to recalibrate. I need to figure out some things. As my brother Malakai once said, this isn't goodbye, this is see you later."

I assume he just got brought back into the loop. HHH and Steph were fans of him. Vince's people did not like him but most got pushed out.
He has no formal position I believe, but he gives ideas here and there, which is where he wants to be.

Whose to say Britt doesn't want to try WWE. Women have a ceiling in AEW
Even before he was injured he wasn't booked nearly as strong as he was under Triple H.

I was just thinking doing Rampage that Buddy was booked like an idiot in this feud with Sting/Darby and friends. Him seeing Sting in a coffin and waiting for him to get out so Sting could attack him. Waiting for Muta slowly walk down the ring to do something. Gives him to Muta and waits in the ring. Then lets Muta mist him. Plus he stood out with the other two guys being heavily tattooed with occult imagery.

Cole is where he wants to be. Fish wanted him and O'Reilly to quit and they basically said naw dawg we good.
Besides where can he go realistically go in WWE. Buck stops at Reigns, and Cole is the kind of guy they will use to dethrone the Big Dog. I doubt he drop the belt for another year at least.

O'Reilly is where he should be anyway. AEW is a smaller pond where he can shine as a singles guy.
A lot of people confirmed that Miro has no desire to return to WWE as rumors tried to peg him into someone who is leaving. Turns out he loves his creative control and the Redeemer character. Cannot wait to see him redeem Julia since House of Black is dead now.

As much as I'd loved Adam Cole in WWE - he is an indie guy, and AEW's audience is essentially that.
However you get the sense Adam Cole is either happy with where is is at, content with being a mid-carder in AEW or doesn't nearly have the aspirations his character would allud to.
A guy like MJF is making it known that he thinks of himself as the biggest thing in wrestling and that self belief will likely carry him to the top of either AEW or WWE. Seth Rollins was arrogantly selling himself in FCW/NXT to the point of pissing the brass off. Every top performer has that ego in them that walks 2 steps in front of their actual ability.
Cole is almost like AJ Styles in TNA. AJ just wanted to come to work and wrestle his friends and didn't clearly or selfishly push to be the top guy. They then low-ball his next contract and he's upset and can't understand why. Then needs to go to NJPW to realise he's AJ "fucking" Styles.
Adam Cole, though.. is happy playing video games.
