Not sure what people do not get about Black's back. If Tony released him, he would not be going back to WWE as they likely would never clear him. All accounts are the injury is career ending and he is just fighting through it. Instead of getting surgery he did acupuncture to fix it. Unless three months ago, he was having trouble even getting out of bed due to pain. He spent the last three months basically getting back into ring shape.

I also am loving people now demanding Tony release Black based on the rumors. How fucked up would that be if you were fired because fans thought you were being held prisoner to a contract?

Hey, the AEW stans started it!

Malakai Black was granted a conditional release. His first request was denied and they met again and worked it out. According to SRS it is believed that the main condition is that he can’t sign with WWE.

So either he can’t sign with WWE for an agreed upon amount of time or if he returns to wrestling he has to give AEW first dibs or something of that nature. I hope he comes back but if his back and mental health is as bad as they say then it’s better he goes away.

Sounds an awful lot like a non-compete.

Pretty much is what it is. He is free to go, but not to WWE. Also does not sound like he wants to go to WWE anyway but just get away for awhile.

I hope The House Of Black stays around to honor Malakai.

There is a lot of talk about Tony being an idiot but this is a smart way to do it. Kind of like how WWE did Brock the first time. Black already played WWE in contract jumpship. Tony wasn't about to let him go free and clear back to their arms.

Obviously nothing confirmed but Keller is one of the few names I still trust so if he’s thinking buyout there’s probably something to it.

Yeah I do not see Punk ever returning. And frankly, I expect him to sue AEW.  But Tony should have fired him for breach of contract.  There is no world where it is ok to attack your bosses.

Ego is a hell of a thing. Punk has done some of my favorite things in wrestling, but he's his own worst enemy, a classic narcissist.  He believes wrestling needs him more than he needs wrestling which has been the downfall of so many. Without wrestling he's Phil Brooks. Who? That's right. The washed up, bitter, asshole who USED to be CM Punk. 

According to WON, Bobby Fish tried to convince Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly to request their releases when he found out his contract would not be renewed. Both declined.

No his contract ran out August 31st and it wasn’t renewed. He became a free agent. He also tried to convince Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly to request their releases and they said no.
