So if Kings of the Black Throne are going after Death Triangle who is the third? Wish Miro was healthy, he would be awesome with them. Also this is interesting: Miro doesn’t have enough tattoos. If they are adding a third and not just feuding with Penta & PAC while Fenix is out, I would guess Windham Rotunda or whatever name he’s going to call himself. If he’s joining AEW that would be a good debut for him. Or maybe THE TITAN. Every new member just keeps getting bigger.

Great ladder match between Cody and Sammy. I was not expecting to enjoy that as much as I did. Loved pretty much all the high spots. The Fuego Del Sol spot was kinda dumb, otherwise it was fantastic. That's high praise considering I don't normally enjoy those types of matches. Wardlow winning handicap matches now. OK, he's officially AEW's Ryback. Not a good place to be. Let's get this Punk vs MJF match over with so we can see Wardlow destroy MJF. Speaking of Punk... Every time CM Punk talks, it's always how bitter he was in the other place and how happy he is now. Every single time. Enough already, jesus christ. I don't recall him mentioning anything about WWE. Yes, he talked about how happy he is, but not for long, he switched topics to MJF pretty quickly. You get triggered pretty easily by Punker. I liked the mini-swerve in the Layla "Legit Attitude Problem" Hirsch vs Red Velvet match. Layla has the match won, lifts the shoulders up at two, locks in a hold and Velvet gets to the ropes. You expect Velvet to sneak a win, via rollup, and they teased it, but Hirsch won anyway by grabbing the tights. I like it! "I wrestle Ruby Soho 100 times, I win 99 tiems." I really hope Nyla Rose did not just set up a Best of 101 series with Ruby Soho... Orange Cassidy is allowed to be angry, intense, lose his cool in a Lights Out match because it doesn't count. Why is there a Demon Finn Balor cosplayer under the ring? Gotta admit, if I knew who that was and cared about him, it would have been a cool moment. Gotta be honest I skipped the match, two hardcore matches in one night is too much for me. Not surprised at the result, Orange needed that win. If Orange can't win on a show named after his finisher, he should retire.

I just noticed they booked Anthony Bowens vs. Jon Moxley just to spite Emperor . If Moxley wins, the AEW Problems thread is getting a new post.

If he’s joining AEW that would be a good debut for him. Or maybe THE TITAN. Every new member just keeps getting bigger. Honestly, I think they passed on both the Titan and Fiend. For what they would want they would come in as two of the highest paid guys. If it is not Cody, Miro is my pick for a third in this group. It would continue his gimmick. He gave himself to God and God took his title then took his health. Have him turn on God and start to redeem people for Black instead. Then use Miro and King as a team and put Black as a title threat. Also that redeemer gimmick has Black all over it, so likely he helped mold it. So curious if in the end, outside of making Cody do Stardust driving him to want to leave WWE, if the second worst thing WWE did was release Black. That PAC promo was one of the best promos I seen in a long, long time and that was def Black's idea. Black a few people said is always writing in notebooks, and he says he has notebooks full of ideas for House of Black. This is the sort of guy you never want another fed to have, as they are also the type of guy who is really good at fleshing out characters.

I don't recall him mentioning anything about WWE. Yes, he talked about how happy he is, but not for long, he switched topics to MJF pretty quickly. You get triggered pretty easily by Punker. It's every single promo he has some to mention the other side and his time and how grumpy he was or the guy he's feuding with has to mention it. I thought he was an A+ mic worker? Feels like a old rock band doing a reunion tour, doing the same ol, faded, dated hits for cheap pops. Punk knows he's at his best when he breaks the 4th wall and talks to his IWC because he brings nothing fun to the table outside of that. He's been doing this for ages. Jeff Hardy druggie stuff while in Straight Edge Society, The Summer of Punk and now going back to his old bag of tricks in AEW. When he has to do something within the storylines like his WWECW run or leading The New Nexus, nah. I don't blame Punk either, if the people are in tears every time they see him or eat the crap up, why not? But I get the itch to change the channel whenever I see it's CM Punk Therapy session.

Let's be real, Punk has not been an A plus promo worker in some time. And frankly, his classic WWE pipebomb promo was recycled from RoH and IWA-MS promos. He is like late career Flair now. He runs the hits people that is what people want. They do not want new promos, they want to sing along to the classics.

I don't get that at all, if anything fans were upset that Punk didn't have enough vitriol and was actually happy. I don't get the therapy session comment either, the only therapy he wants is to kick MJF's ass. MJF keeps bringing up Punk's past failures, Punk addressed them pretty succinctly with 'yeah I may get knocked down, but I always get back up' and the whole point was to build to MJF/Punk.

The problem with Punk is, he's doing this 'Old Man Punk' shtick, probably out of laziness.. he's first happy to be here, and he's happy to work the young boys and age is always this lingering factor he talks about.
He's just 3 years older than Danielson, 2 years older than Orton, a year younger than Styles and 5 years younger than Edge. He's too young for this nostalgia run and to Paul Heyman's point, he needs to start doing something reviting or this venture into AEW, will just be a nostalgia run and nothing more, as there's so many guys his age working at an elite level, and age is never an underlying theme.

I really don't see it as an issue, if anything it's true to his character that as a guy who has been out of the industry he wants to do it the right way. For years he whined about guys like The Rock coming in and instantly getting the main event of Wrestlemania without earning it and Punk wants to come in and test himself against the up and coming guys as well as settle a few old scores like against Eddie.
I'd rather he be true to himself then pretend to be badass MMA Punk or Rebel Without A Cause Punk.

Yeah, Punk is good in his gimmick. He knows what the fans want, and that is old man Punk. Majority of fans never seen true Straight Edge Punk or Company Man Punk, so they only really know the WWE Punk anyway. Besides these days Straight Edge Punk would never fly. He could easily do the gimmick again, but people would freak out when he starts to cut up fans on a personal level. A lot of people love this Punk anyway so why change what works? He cuts on WWE as that is what fans want. He uses recycled insults and his WWE promo style, as that is what fans are familiar with.
Personally, I wish Punk moved into a Hartigan from Sin City gimmick where he lost his edge and does not know how much longer he can go. Would have allowed him to put people over and be a mega baby face making each win seem like an underdog fluke. Punker could do it as it draws from comics he loves, and he toyed with this during his face run in RoH during the Joe trilogy and lead up to his title win.

Problem with a straight edge gimmick in 2022... half the roster is probably straight edge, but doesn't realise it, or cares.
Personally, turn Punk heel. He's a natural asshole. Plus, he can work around his limitations if age and dexterity is a problem by lying, cheating... become everything he hates, the old guy worried about his spot, beating up rookies. Become Hardcore Holly.

Punk old straight edge gimmick was not allowed on on the air and WWE made him stop it really fast. It was more focused on how much better he was than the fans with him personally insulting and ripping fans he would single out. He used the straight edged crap really only to justify why he was better than others.
Here is him doing it in WWE at a house show.
He started really doing the gimmick in IWA-MS to get heat with the drunks by trashing ICP and calling the girls sluts. Highlights for those who never seen him in this era when he would get girls to charge at him.

Yeah, Punk's happy to be here mindset can get a tad tiresome. However, this is a clear case of a disconnect between the IWC and the live audience. Maybe in kayfabe or not, Punk doesn't want to fight for a title. Maybe Punk will eventually, People are conditioned to WWE's weekly line of thinking. Where a wrestler wants to fight for a title for no reason. With little to no build-up.
