I am a trail runner and climber. I organize a trail 10K run at a local state park and have been apart of many other runs in the area. I've climbed boulders and mountains in several states. So, I think I have shown enough of my resume' to back that I like me some nature sometimes.
It feels like every time there is a cut in budgets to national parks there is an outcry amongst some of my friends on social media. But here is my odd take on it. I don't necessarily want the national parks funded like they are. I want them protected. But there is no need to build concrete paths through them and make them 100% handicap accessible. No need for regular bus groups of tourists in Yosemite like it's Disneyland and loud Harley Davidsons ripping through the Yellowstone. So, when I hear that there is a budget cut I am kind of relieved. I think it is good. That the nature will be more preserved and less domesticated.
Am I completely wrong on this? Some of our national parks seem overdeveloped tourist attractions.

I can get on board with this sentiment minus the Harley aspect. I love motorcycling as much as nature, and I don't think there's any prettier riding than some of those roads that wind through Glacier, etc.

I'm guessing you don't ride? I get that it's totally selfish, but the whole experience of riding is one of my favorite just-for-me/fuck-the-world indulgences. Every sensation, loud and noisy sounds included, comes together to make it an unbeatable, unique experience. That said, I totally get where you're coming from. Both for the sake of other people and for the sake of not disrupting nature (i.e., scaring the shit out of the wildlife that's otherwise minding it's own business) I could potentially get on board with some sort of decibel threshold/exhaust requirement to help make sure bikes aren't unnecessarily loud.
