Seems like with technology these days less and less use real money. Everyone uses credit and debit. I used to be that way but with every atm and gas pump acting as a potential skimmer I am embracing cash.
I pay inside with cash for gas. My atm card is essentially worthless since I withdraw inside the bank. The few places that I do swipe I always use credit. How about you guys? How much is cash used in your daily life?

I always use card, and try to avoid business that don’t have Eftpos. Conversely, almost always used cash when I visited NYC, made tipping easier and was surprised that swipe cards were still the norm as opposed to chip when I was there.

I’m almost entirely cashless. I hate carrying cash.
I wonder how long until we’re a cardless society, with smart devices and NFC becoming the primary form of payment.

You're protected with a credit card; even if your info gets stolen the credit card company will make sure you don't pay for whatever gets charged in your name. I always do keep cash on me anyway; when we all go out to get something to eat and split the bill like seven ways I'll put down money instead of figuring out (to the penny) how much I need to venmo someone back or what have you, or very very small purchases.

I prefer cash because it’s easier to budget with cash, but that doesn’t mean I have cash often. Card just so much more convenient.

I prefer to carry cash, that way I actually get change back, because over time I'll build up money I wouldn't have otherwise had. Nice little fallback when I find myself wanting something late in the month and short on funds. If it's on a card, I'll spend it until I can't spends no more.
I also like to have it in cash because I have a bad had of late night delirium spending when I've had trouble sleeping (which is frequent, at least 3-4 times a month I usually have 36+ hour days), if it's in my wallet, I can't get shit I don't need.

My bank recently instituted an Easy Saver account for this purpose. Let's say i spend 3.67 on my card at the store one day. At the end of the business day, 0.33 goes into my Easy Saver. And it does that whenever i use my card. Last month we racked up $75 in our Easy Saver. and it works like any account. We withdrew it and took the kids out to dinner. So every month now, what we have in Easy Saver we use for a family activity or dinner.

Yeah, outside of the cash purchases I mentioned I pay for everything on credit and then pay off the balance. Credit seems safer because you can dispute fraudulent charges (their money) as opposed to debit where they can wipe your checking/saving and you're basically SOL by then.

I'm so old school, I write a cheque for everything. I greatly enjoy holding up the line at the grocery store as I slowly write my cheque. In all seriousness, I use my VISA for everything. Automatic payments with ongoing accounts (Hydro, Water, Internet/Cable etc). Everything but mortgage. Bastards. With the points I earn on my credit card every year, it easily pays off the yearly fee, plus I earn hundreds of dollars in conversions, whether it's a flight, or getting gift cards for gas, or whatever I choose. Sure, it takes discipline not to spend money you don't have, but my Wife and I stick to a strict budget.

I'm about 90% cashless. I always carry around a hundred bucks in cash just in case but it's just easier to swipe the damn card and set up things through auto pay. I still write checks on my mortgage payments and my power bill though.

I eagerly await having a chop implanted in my wrist that can store all my ID and banking information.

I still write checks on my mortgage payments and my power bill though. You write checks on your mortgage payments? Doesn't that just get automatically taken out of your bank account every month? And your power bill with a cheque? Are you a savage? Do you also get your bill in the mail printed on paper? Every bill arrives emails or gets automatically withdrawn from my bank account, and eveything else is paid via online banking.
