Of course it's an overpay but I get what they're doing, Brunson without Doncic put up very strong numbers and was vital in their round 1 win over Utah. The thinking is that if he's the ball dominant PG on a team that he will get to feast more, just a matter if Fournier and Randle can not get greedy and try to play heroball. I have also come to grips with the reality here that this was going to happen given his dad is an assistant coach with NYK and the Knicks GM Leon Rose is the godfather of Brunson and Brunson's agent also has ties with the organization. I also think there was a little bit of tomfoolery from the Mavs part to try and not bump his value up with sparing minutes leading up to this past season as well. Mavs supposedly balked at signing Brunson earlier for a 4 year 55 mill deal, Brunson now is going to get double that so he gambled and played the market extremely well here. 

Knicks also got Hartenstein on a 2 year deal to essentially replace Nerlens Noel who had to go to open up money for the Brunson deal.

Joker getting super duper max extension - $264 million over five years. That's, like, four horses.

Obviously the Brunson money is absurd but the Knicks have to do something to get offense in that backcourt and take some pressure off Barrett and be able to also handle the offense. If Barrett takes the next they could be a really fun duo.

Dre was killing it in Cleveland before Covid hit and then we made the Allen trade. Sucks we couldn't resign him, though I totally get why and at least we only gave up basically peanuts for the short time he was here.

Ainge got a couple of unprotected 1sts out of this, good haul. Gobert and Mitchell weren't going to work together after Gobert got Mitchell sick so this is Utah's way of saying this is Mitchell's team for good.

Agreed, they were never going to pick super high to ever land a superstar at PG again with the way the lotto is setup. Have to try and risk the bacon here on this deal. Remains to be seen if he's a legit 35+ minute a night PG or not though. This is the deal that makes or breaks Rose and co.

I would probably try to keep Lavine and pair up with him and KD due to Lavine age not against the deal but would think it’s better to keep Lavine.

Mitchell is so gone it’s matter of when and where I say it’s either Knicks or Heat.  

The fit with Gobert and KAT in today’s NBA is questionable I think it’s matter of time that KAT maybe dealt or Gobert if/when the experiment fail.

Kat and Gobert will be fine. Kat don’t play defense anyways and prefers space.

If anything I worry about him clogging the lane for Edwards.

He already showed he can be that guy playing 32 a game last season and upping it to 35 a game on a team that made the WCF. Granted he has Luka but he was still the second best player on a really good team. He definitely makes the Knicks better it’s just an expensive way to do it.

Also Mitchell ain’t going anywhere - that would be silly. Why trade both away when he’s a star in the making?

And I would defer the unprotected picks till the end of this decade. Nets have to save face after what was given up to secure Harden. Nets not going to come out on top here if he goes to Miami or Phoenix if they take upcoming draft picks, Rockets are set up real good. Sucks for Marks that he will be maybe gone by the time these picks end up coming in and that his legacy as a GM is due to Durant and Irving blowing up what he built as a foundation, sucks. 

You get Mikal Bridges or Tyler Herro as a led package along with a surplus of picks, where do you go from here. Can't put your eggs in the Ben Simmons basket. Shame because Sean Marks did a damn good job inheriting the mess Billy King left in Brooklyn but he cheated the process and when the two superstars said let us in, they blew up their head coach(Atkinson), blew up their draft picks and blew up their entire future(Lavert, Ja. Allen etc.). 

Sucks for Steve Nash too, he came to coach these two. Now he's stuck with a piss poor team, even if there's less of a headache. Durant got rewarded 40 mill to rehab his knee and 2 seasons later, he thanks you by demanding a trade.

Yep even if it was a short sample size, hoping the advanced metrics add up to stability at the position. Doesn't have to turn the Knicks overnight into a playoff contender but we finished 11th in the East when so much went wrong, would have been in the West Conf's play in game even. 

We aren't far off from being a laughing stock but we aren't far off from at least getting into that 6th-10th seed bracket too.
