Interesting. I'm not watching the match so I can only try to imagine what's happening. I guess they are milking the anticipation of the strikes. It struck me with a 'it hurts but I'm never gonna admit it' sort of vibe.
I get where UT is coming from, though, it is kayfabe a test of who's tougher but in a really stupid toxic masculinity sort of way Not a new complaint, and one I used to think was BS, until guys like Kingston came out and said there was no need for that stuff anymore as people were clearly getting seriously hurt, particularly from the headdrops.

Actually tried watching tonight but the streaming site I used for Wrestlemania weekend wasn't cooperating. Maybe next week I’ll be back if Baker is. When that goes down, then at least you will have one match that you should like even if the rest of the card you cannot stand. Tonight was good, but no one showcased that old school style. One thing I noticed is AEW is very much an on / off fed. This show was great, next week will be likely lackluster, then another good show in two weeks. No clue why, but this is how it tends to go. Sat show may be worth watching, but they still not announced all the matches.
AEW Womens Championship: Thunder Rosa Vs. Nyla Rose
TNT Championship: Scorpio Sky Vs. Sammy Guevara
ROH World Championship: Jonathan Gresham Vs. Dalton Castle
Gresham I think you guys will like, as he is like real old school. He finishes with a stretch or rollups and does not use a traditional finisher.
Thunder Rosa is great, and Nyla Rose is fun doing the Kong style. They are good friends so they will beat the living shit out of each other most likely.
Sky is solid and Sammy has a lot of talent, but is a fucking hot mess otherwise. May be a title change since Sammy is in that weird area where he may self-destruct out of the ring.

Strong style they do not try to really make things look good, but instead just hit each other like as hard as they can. Tomorrow both guys will have like black chests from that match. Some love it, others think it is stupid to go so hard, when you can get sell moves that do not hurt for a better effect. IIRC (and I can't find an interview at the moment) no less than a Bret Hart hates that kind of stuff, he's from the school of thought where the magician's act of wrestling comes from making it look like it hurts when it doesn't, as opposed to strong style where they make it look like it hurts by legit slapping the shit out of each other I kinda agree, but at the same time I can't deny it's entertaining to watch the tough guy contests. It looks rough but they are only superficial wounds.

Look, I don't wanna be negative, but that ending sucked. There was an expectation from an advertised overrun and that expectation was not "A tall man debuts."
Also, the tag title match should have gone the other way, especially with the post-match angle.

See there is a difference between guys like Regal doing it and the Japanese guys. There are moves you can go all out in and there are others you should not. We are seeing strong style change now to safer stuff, but it was not always safe and kind of has that tainted legacy. Shibata I think was the wake up all that is changing things given how close to death he was.

Next week will be interesting. It seems like every time the card looks weak on paper it ends up being an amazing show. And they usually throw in a big match the day of to grab more viewers. Got a feeling FTR/ReDragon will happen week after next, with FTR winning and eventually facing Jurassic Express for the titles. Might want to keep an eye out for that Baker
