The Super-J Podcast announced during their show last night that there are plans to have an AEW/NJPW show in Chicago on June 23rd. They said that might not be Tony’s announcement on Wednesday but the timing of that announcement plus this rumor leaking is suspect.

From what I’ve read this podcast is usually on point with NJPW news so there is some weight to this. The only hang up is June 23rd is a Thursday which is a little weird. Either the show happens on the 25th or they’re doing it Thursday because that would be Friday in Japan.

Will this be NJPW Japanese talent or NJPW American talent?

At the same time this rumor broke, The Young Bucks dropped in on Kazuchika Okada’s instagram live. They said “we miss you, come to AEW” and Okada jokingly replied “I’m going to TNA.”

When they signed off they said “love you, miss you,” and Okada replied the same, then said “hopefully I’ll be seeing you soon.”

Does that mean anything? Probably not. But I’m going to wildly speculate.

I expect this to be like the Resurgence show in LA where Tanahashi beat Archer for the NJPW US Belt.

Mostly NJPW USA guys and maybe a few cameos from the regulars like Suzuki, Ishii, Ospreay. I certainly don't expect the full contingent of Okada, Naito, Shingo, Zack etc. to show up but at least one of them would be a treat.

If they can do Naito vs Andrade I’d love that. If anyone comes over though I’d expect ZSJ to show up before any of those other names.

Naito and maybe other LIJ members teaming with Andrade is more likely, that would be cool to watch.

Beginning to think RT is right and Tony is getting fucked by NJPW. I suspect this will be a NJPW show that just features a dozen AEW guys.

Last night after Windy City Riot, Jon Moxley called out Hiroshi Tanahashi. Nothing has been confirmed but I can absolutely see that being the main event of this show if it is indeed happening.

That is for the DC NJPW show.

Ah never mind. Apparently he issued the challenge for the upcoming DC show.

Meltzer said yesterday that he heard the rumour and asked about it and nobody denied it, and he believes if there was no truth to it they would have said so. Definitely thinks it is happening.

I’m really thinking that Tony’s announcement this week is going to be this show.

Okada is rumoured to be booked for the DC show in May. I wonder if everyone is coming over for May/June before going back to Japan for the G1 in July.
