At age 73. He had been suffering from Parkinson's Disease for several years.

For those who don't know he was the twin brother of Earl. Actually predates Earl in WWF by 2 years. Both Hebners started out as refs in the Carolina based Mid Atlantic territory before moving on to the big time. Dave is most famous for serving as the good Hebner twin in The Main Event Screwjob when Andre dethroned Hogan in an all time great angle with 33 million viewers looking on. He retired from refereeing after knee surgery in the late 80s or early 90s but remained with the company as an agent until 2005 when he was fired over a merchandising scandal involving his brother and nephew. Dave always maintained his innocence.

What's kind of unique is while both Hebner's started in Mid-Atlantic, one (Dave I believe), went to WWF while the other stayed in Mid-Atlantic. I think Jim Cornette mentioned on his podcast recently that some fans would look and think "how's the guy reffing for the WWF and NWA at the same time?", if they didn't know they were twins.😂

Shocking, and sad to see another WWF/E ref from my youth pass away so soon. RIP Tim.

RIP to two absolute legends. Refereeing is often a thankless job and takes more skill than some give credit for or recognize.

Kind of sucks that that has to be the first thing to come to mind for most fans when thinking about Tim. Instead of him being Andre's buddy/handler and seeming like a really cool dude that I've never read bad things about. But that's Vince/WWE for you.

It was to hype up how dangerous Hell in a Cell was for Taker/Orton at Armageddon 2005.. to show HIAC messes with your psyche as he injured his shoulder during the Jericho/HHH cell match..leading it to have long lasting psychological effects on his life.

It was fucking stupid but that’s the reason for it.

I've always somewhat loved the hyperbolic over the top selling of things like HIAC and EC and what the workers "pay" in the end for glory. And I especially hate and love those opening Mania monologues. Talk about being a fucking mark lol.

If was a nice touch when wrestlers would come out with a bandage on (sometimes a shoot) walk very slowly to the ring etc after a HIAC match to show how gruelling it was.
