Well that was way better than I assumed. AEW finally getting how to do barbwire.  The ref unhooking people is a great touch to speed up matches.

That match was a god damn mess. Overbooked late WCW nonsense. Boooo

That was the way it should have been. It was barbwire. Only two ways to do barbwire - overbook the shit, or let the guys rip each other apart. And AEW is not going to let them start to slice themselves open with the wire and get all scarred up.

Yeah Kingston should have hit him with a real backfist to the back to the skull.

Jesus this match is getting destroyed on Twitter. Apparently there’s even a live shot of Jericho blading? If they can’t produce these matches just stop doing them. Why are they even doing a barbed wire match on TV anyway?

I think my biggest problem with the barbed wire match, is it should have happened prior to Blood and Guts. As far as im concerned, Blood and Guts should have been the match used to end to this Jericho/Kingston feud. I enjoy AEW and usually I'll cut them slack, but they got this shit backwards.

Backfist botch is tragically hilarious. Nothing wrong with his execution but all wrestling moves look like shit when they are not sold.

Failure to open the shark cage is pretty hilarious. Anna joining up with Tay makes sense. She was never a good fit for Dark Order when they became babyface.

It also should have been a bigger gap pretty this and blood and guts. We haven't seen Sammy since the fall from the cage. Oh like three weeks ago? I didn't even know he was missing/injured since people disappear for more then three weeks all the time.

They overbook like crazy when there's 15 minutes left in the show, rush to get all their shit in, and mistakes happen that make everyone involved look idiotic. This isn't the first time either. When Dynamite sticks to the plan and doesn't have some insanely huge main event planned, the show goes smooth and everyone praises how great an episode was. Then they try this and look what happens. It's getting old. How many chances do they get at these types of matches before people give up on them?

You can't defend this match, man. Just accept that it was absolute shit and move on.

Also this is the second huge gimmick hardcore type match that has made Eddie Kingston look like a fucking idiot (the other being the "exploding" ring). They need to stop this nonsense. Save it for a PPV when you have more time or actually commit to these matches and give them the time they deserve instead of trying to cram 8 matches and 50 promos into a 2 hour show.

This is atleast number two for both Jericho and Eddie in these overly barbaric matches. And a week later no will remember the parts they want people to remember only the parts that people will laugh about.

I didn't mind Jericho winning the match. That seems to be the story they're trying to tell, where Eddie is hell-bent on having his revenge and he doesn't care what he has to sacrifice in order to achieve it. It cost him at Double Or Nothing and even though he won Blood and Guts he was denied the satisfaction. The logical step is to have Jericho/Kingston mano-a-mano and right as Kingston has Jericho right where he wants him, Jericho finds a way to win, causing Eddie to go back to Blood and Guts and use that motivation to turn on the Blackpool Combat Club.

However they didn't really tell that story and the match really didn't justify the long build-up. I thought the lay-out of the match was pretty poor to begin with. You have Eddie get the shine early and kick his ass all along ring-side, fine. However Jericho gets this babyface comeback spot where he sandbags the power-bomb, lifts Kingston up onto the turnbuckle and executes a frankensteiner onto the board. All the heat is in the ad-break with Jericho locking in the walls and when we comeback, Eddie thumbs Jericho in the eye and hits a suplex off the apron through a barb-wire table. That's essentially the cue for the big brouhaha with the JAS escaping the shark cage beating up Eddie followed by Blackpool Combat Club taking out the numbers and attacking Jericho.

The match then goes to the finish and I'm surprised that AEW Botches didn't have the spot where Jericho hits a code-breaker on Kingston while he has the chair and then cops the barbwire to the face. I doubt the boys really care that they crawled through the bars or that Jericho didn't register a backfist in the post-match segment, the barbwire chair to the face that busts you open would suck way worse.

Anyways, by having Sammy come down, the logical conclusion is now you either do Eddie/Jericho III or Eddie/Sammy. However the each-way finish with Eddie slamming Jericho felt like a potential blow-off as well, but a really anti-climatic blow off. Jericho wins but Eddie got his revenge! Tune into Rampage and order that ROH PPV!

I expect there to be more to Jericho/Kingston but I get the feeling now they're just riding it out and they're not considering what it does for either guy moving forward. Cause and effect is such an important part of Pro Wrestling, look at Hangman's response to losing the inaugural AEW World Championship match. That's what got him over and allowed fans to connect with him. At the moment, this just feels like it's keeping Jericho busy more than anything else. I don't think it would be so disappointing if it wasn't the main storyline on the show right now.

Emperor you should check out Darby Allin/Brody King. Quality David vs. Goliath match that made Brody look impressive and the post-match segment was really well put together setting up a House of Black vs. Miro/Sting/Darby match down the line.

Was also nice to see one of KITN faves Willow Nightingale boost her stocks tonight. The show could use more personality and she has it in spades.

Allin/King was certainly a quality match. Loved the finish and the aftermath.

Oh hey Athena is in a backstage interview. Which begs the question: has she actually wrestled a match in AEW yet? Let me check. Apart from the match on this show, a couple of Rampage matches and a Dark match. Whoops. Missed the boat there. But I've seriously cut down on AEW so that's no surprise.

Big Pete according to Jericho’s instagram the codebreaker spot broke his nose. I don’t think he was supposed to sell that and the chair was probably supposed to be between him and Eddie so Eddie’s face was driven into the chair for the finish. Yeah it was still a botch but Jericho actually got hurt there.
