Big Pete according to Jericho’s instagram the codebreaker spot broke his nose. I don’t think he was supposed to sell that and the chair was probably supposed to be between him and Eddie so Eddie’s face was driven into the chair for the finish. Yeah it was still a botch but Jericho actually got hurt there. Still better then I thought I was afraid it hit him in the eye.

Yeah it was still a botch but Jericho actually got hurt there. If I was a performer I could live with the key not working or the no-sell of the backfist while I'm getting tangled up with another wrestler, it's the chair in the face where I'd feel embarrassed. Not only because I have a smashed nose but the spot didn't really benefit the match at all. I could admire the thought, but moving forward I'd treat it as a cautionary tale.
However like everything in AEW this is getting blown way out of proportion. An underwhelming match? Sure. An unmitigated disaster where we all stand-around, point and laugh and pee our pants? Please.

Couldn’t agree more. While I hated the match I don’t blame the wrestlers at all. My gripe is with whoever booked and produced this nonsense. They aren’t learning from their mistakes and this will continue to happen if something doesn’t change off-camera. You give this match even an extra 5-7 minutes to pad for time and it almost definitely is better received because everyone involved has that extra breathing room and isn’t rushing to hit their spots.

Match pacing & has always been in AEW. They have to figure it out.
