One of the proudest moments of my PW posting career is the time I proved that jerk Mike Graham wrong by going back and calculating all the dimes Jeff Jarrett drew from me. Well, my current favorite wrestling channel on Youtube recently one upped me by watching all 174 televised Jeff Jarrett TNA matches just to count the number of ref bumps in his matches. What a legend...
Not going to spoil it but anyone want to hazard a guess?

198 ref bumps in 174 matches seems a bit farfetched. I'm assuming a ref isn't bumped in every single match, probably not even half of them.

I assume "LOL TNA" (or whatever the meme is) is a thing for a reason, and Double J was there for a looong time from inception... So for every rare match with no ref bumps (if any?) I'm assuming there's at least one with multiple ref bumps to offset. Maybe the best estimate would've been 174, LOL TNA.

You’re both wrong. It’s somewhere in the middle. Emp is closer. I’ll leave the guessing game open before revealing the answer tonight or tomorrow. Edit: was writing as Pete posted. He’s the closest so far.

I’m watching snme from March 1987 and there talking about roddy piper retiring Piper's retirement match with Adonis was the 2nd or 3rd biggest hook for Wrestlemania III. It had huge hype. ============= Time for the big reveal... There were 91 ref bumps in Jarrett's 174 televised TNA matches. Meaning 52.2% of his matches featured a ref bump. The percentage was much higher at times. For example there were 40 ref bumps through JJ's first 51 TNA matches. The ref bumps also slowed down considerably during Jarrett's latter day TNA runs when he did a lot of jobs*. Big Pete won the guessing game contest by coming closest with his prediction of 80. *I knew Jarrett went part time after 2006 but didn't realize how many jobs he did. Also didn't realize how hard he was screwed over by the Carters/TNA management. Being kicked out of the company you founded has to suck. ============= bodyslam When is the next Impact PPV? This weird TNA nostalgia kick I'm on makes me want to do weird things like watch current Impact. Last full(ish) TNA/Impact show I watched was back when Joe/MVP/Ki were in a faction and James Storm wrestled Matt Hardy in a sad match that made me think both of those 2000s Baker Guys were past it. Before that one off it was like 08 or 09, and the last time I watched any modernish TNA at all is when Broken Matt was riding high.

Anybody here ever watch Ring Ka King? If so what did you think? Markyd's video series has me tempted to check it out. Sounds like the sort of wrestling I gravitate towards nowadays. Plus I'm bound to crack up whenever certain wrestlers half the roster shows up thanks to his running gags.

Post the video series.
And no, it just looked like b-league TNA lol. Then again maybe it was just ahead of it's time.

More like behind the times It looks to be straight babyface vs. heel wrestling with hot crowds, wacky gimmicks, sensible matches that don't go overboard, and some wrestlers I like. Even without knowing a Wild Slapnuts would appear I'd have interest based on Sonjay Dutt's sweet golden wings and the 8 year old obese Indian boy.

Came for the NWA-TNA reviews, stayed for the Just Joe retrospective and knew instantly Baker would be a fan. You know me too well. Also liked how he touched on Just Joe E. Legend inventing Daniel Bryan's Yes/No gimmick in another video on that one WWA PPV I ordered back in the day. Shame Legend's TNA run was such a bust. I had high hopes but it just didn't work. I need to get the Hawk to squawk about the WWF runs of Borga & Dean Douglas. New 2022 goal. I discovered Marky about 6 months ago. Watched a few videos before moving on. Came back to him again last week because I was searching for old school NWA TNA reviews (he specializes in TNA and short, obscure runs) and now I'm a card carrying member of the shuv it squad. I don't even mind the constant ragging on Double J because at least he's funny about it. Besides it's hard to argue if you watch those videos  Also wish he had the hots for Watts. Oh well. Nobody is perfect. New video dropped today on The Giant's WCW run. It's Baker Approved. My man gets it.

Got a video on WSX? Noice.
Also not for nothing I used WSX and sort of a "indy sampler" for the time period. It worked.

I just couldn't with WSX despite liking some of their wrestlers. That show seemed like it was booked by and for already hyperactive 12 year olds experiencing a sugar high. Even 2000 Vince Russo would be like "slow down, bro." Best thing in that promotion was Colt Cabana doing the Matt Classic gimmick and I don't even think he ever made the show proper, instead just working a few dark matches on Youtube. ====== Another thing I like about Markyd is his TNA fandom. For so long TNA has been treated as the redheaded stepchild of pro wrestling. Plus I'm old so it's easy for me to forget TNA was basically WCW for an entire generation of fans (with ROH being the 2000s ECW equivalent). TNA was the most accessible alternative in the 2000s if you weren't a WWE fan, or just wanted to watch more wrestling. He does rag on TNA a lot, but it comes from a place of love. That was his promotion so he wanted it to do better. ====== Should really break this off into a separate thread on Wrestling Youtubers. Once I finish my other posts...

Rarely have I clicked on a video more quickly. Kilgore 10 (The Game rips of The Franchise): YES 9 (Michael Cole rips off Cyrus the Virus): Not really. 8 (WCW Raven rips off the Shane Douglas Riot Squad swerve): Mention Raven recycling an ECW gimmick while the footage of him recycling the chair shot heard round the wold goes unmentioned, dropping one single tear Iron Eyes Cody style. Pretty weak, overall. 7 (Buh Buh Ray Dudley's stutter): At first was like, Buh Buh using the stutter again, pretty weak, again. Didn't realize the 'E tried it with others. Resounding yes. 6 (Samoa Joe wants to be Taz): Absolutely. 5 (RVD the weed enthusiast making way for Godfather and DX): Very weak, Dogshit boss's kid Shane O Mac stealing the Van Terminator is more blatant if we want to give RVD his flowers. 4 (Crucifixion): YES. 3 (When World's Collide): Terribly researched (Mentions an "ECW pay per view" in 1994), but seems to be centered around WCW ripping off the name, which is true, but undeserving for such a high ranking. 2 (Shane Douglas throws down the NWA belt, making way for Medusa throwing WWF belt in the trash): Again, terribly researched. The Medusa incident had more in common with Riddick Bowe throwing the WBC Championship in the trash in 1992. 1 (Stone Cold rips off The Sandman): Yes, Austin has admitted this. While discussing Austin, this dude probably should mentioned Mikey Whipwreck's Whippersnapper (possibly) being ripped off as the Stone Cold Stunner. Austin has admitted that, too. Although, I don't think Whipwreck was using it yet, so Austin might be generous. Still, worth mentioning. Overall, bad video. How are tables not mentioned? Or the pregnancy angle? Or Bill Alfonso's heel authority predating Bischoff (and Vince)? Nation of Domination ripping off The Gangstas? The modernity of ECW music video packages showing WWF the way with Desire or My Way? Hell, even bWo's comedy troupe stylings showing nWo/DX the way? Instead some week shit like When World's Collide, RVD likes week, Raven recycling or Michael Cole/Cyrus, Shane Douglas/Medusa. Bad video. I am unimpressed. Need Neo Zeed to watch and chime in. I've barely scratched the surface.

Would that count as the one time Austin put someone over? Admitting he created him from others?
Watched half and felt like a few were a stretch. But we also think that same level stole from PW so maybe it's fair.

For the record I made that post and tagged Kilgore before watching the entire video. I didn't think it was great either. For a not really defense of Markyd, he's a younger fan who by his own admission specializes in TNA. He knows very little about pre Attitude Era wrestling or ECW. Research isn't his strong suit either. His constant referring to ECW supershows as pay per views also drove me crazy on his videos chronicling the ECW careers of Jericho and Mysterio. He also claimed Taz was trained by Hashimoto when I wouldn't be surprised if Taz never even met Hashimoto. He definitely wasn't trained by him. Since Kilgore did it... 10. HHH rips off Douglas- YEP. And I'm going to give myself the Barry Horowitz pat on the back for making this comparison before I ever saw anyone else do it. 9. Michael Cole rips off Cyrus- Nah. A lot of the commenters said Palmer Cannon ripping off Cyrus would have been the better choice here. I cannot confirm since I barely remember the three week run of Palmer Cannon. 8. Raven rips off the Riot Squad swerve- I'll let Kilgore be my guide here. Never even heard of this moment tbh. Initially thought he was going with Edge ripping this angle off at ECW One Night Stand 2 and wasn't crazy about that either since it was more homage than ripoff given it was on an ECW branded show. 7. Buh Buh Ray's Stutter- Yeah, ok, WWF did rip off a stupid low midcard gimmick, but is it really worthy of making a Top 10 list? Nah. Probably not even Top 50. 6. Samoa Joe wants to be Taz- For sure. Get outta town with the Hashimoto tie in though. 5. RVD the weed enthusiast inspires DX & The Godfather- Going to break ranks with Kilgore here and vote YES. Can you imagine WWF wrestlers making weed references on tv in 95-96? Of course not. It's easy to imagine Russo & Brucie giggling at RVD's schtick and it just snowballing from there. Whether top 10 worthy or not is debatable, but I do think it's far more listworthy than Shane stealing one of RVD's moves. Moves get stolen all the time. That Three Minute Warning guy stole RVD's Split Legged Moonsault. Shawn Michaels did a Superkick style Van Daminator way back at IYH September 96. Where do you draw the line? 4. Crucifixion- Breaking ranks again with a NO. Probably the single most overrated moment in ECW history. It never even made tape or tv! I had been hyper plugged in to the backstage scene since 1998 at the very latest and don't even recall hearing about this moment until the Rise and Fall of ECW DVD came out in 2004 or so. Meaning even if I had heard about it before then, it wasn't hyped up as this BIG THING. Its biggest impact imo is as an answer to two trivia questions- "Name the one moment ECW Arena fans thought their beloved promotion went too far" and "Why didn't Kurt Angle sign with ECW?" Not necessarily saying WWF didn't rip it off. Just that it doesn't belong anywhere near a Top 10 list. 3. When World's Collide name- Back to agreeing with Kilgore. This is really stretching it. 2. Madusa throws belt in the trash- Thought this was a good YES. Maybe for wrestling bubble reasons? (didn't know/remember the Bowe incident) 1. Stone Cold drinks beer just like The Sandman- YEAH with the caveat that I thought Austin drinking beer was a natural progression for his character and only did the "Stone Cold ripped off Sandman!" gimmick once upon a time because Stone Cold could shuv it.

Agree the crucifixion angle is definitely overrated in ECW lore, but zero chance WWF does it without the infamy it caused in ECW, so while ranked too high, it's too obvious not to mention. One of the clearest A = B examples. Makes sense it would make a list like this.

Clicked on this one even faster than the ECW video. It's not even fair anymore the way this guy has cracked the code to capturing my attention. Surprised Mordecai only had 3 televised matches. Thought it was at least twice that. Then again the Rey match is the only one I ever really remembered...
