Baker, name three great Jeff Jarrett matches. 1. vs. HBK @ IYH2 I will pimp that match until I'm dead. What Ness said. Honestly, with that match, Jeff doesn't need anything else. But his stuff with Razor, Kid/Pac, Bret, Bob Holly, and even Diesel was totally solid to good. I didn't really follow his WCW or TNA careers, so can't really speak to those bodies of work... But assume he probably did something entertaining with Benoit and Booker, and then later with the surprising likes of AJ, D'Lo, and Raven. Maybe Sting across both companies? But nothing will touch the elite level of IYH#2.

1. vs. HBK @ IYH2 I will pimp that match until I'm dead. For good reason. That match was great. One of the top ones in '95.

Baker , name three great Jeff Jarrett matches. I actually only have one The aforementioned In Your House match with Michaels, which is the consensus GOAT Jarrett match. BUT.... Believe it or not, I haven't seen many of Double J's most highly praised matches. Some candidates.... Jeff Jarrett: The World's Greatest Wrestlervs. Angle- TNA- Multiple- Even Angle haters have praised their matches. I've only seen one and didn't think it was anything special. However, I watched it at a time when I wasn't really liking anything*, including the first Taker/Michaels Wrestlemania match. *Bourne/Morrison from WWECW being the lone exception. Because that match ruled. vs. Chris Benoit- WCW Starrcade 96- Ladder Match- I remember some contrarians back in the day on places like DVDVR calling this the GOAT ladder match, saying it smoked Michaels/Razor. These same people also said Benoit was Jarrett's greatest opponent, which is totally believable. vs. Booker T- WCW 2000- They had a few fondly remembered matches. This series is often brought up as one of the lone bright spots in 2000 WCW. w/ Lawler vs. Moondogs- USWA 1992- You probably wouldn't like the matches from PWI's 1992 Feud of the Year since they're total 80s style punchy brawls but I could see folks like Strobe & Kilgore digging them. I've only seen one. It was up on Youtube for years. vs. Jerry Lawler- USWA Spring 1996- They had two big matches. The first was a one hour time limit draw at a time when those never happened in the US. Don't think that one has ever been released on video though. The 2nd was a tv match a few days later where they teased going an hour again. I've seen praise for the tv match. Young Jarrett vs. Multiple- USWA Early 90s- People who have seen far more wrestling than I have say Jarrett's peak as a worker came near the beginning of his career when he working the dying territories as a popular 80s style white meat babyface against the likes of Tom Prichard and Eddie Gilbert. As for Good Jarrett Matches I actually have seen..... vs. Chris Harris- TNA Early 2004- Remember loving this at the time. It would be my #2 Jarrett match behind the Michaels IYH classic. Remember thinking it was a poor man's version of the famous Flair vs. Young Barry Windham series. vs. Kid/XPac- They had a couple good matches in 1994 and another one at Summerslam 1998. vs. Razor Ramon- Royal Rumble 95 & Superstars Early 96- Rumble is just a solid face vs. heel bout. Superstars isn't a great match. It's like 5 minutes with a schmozz finish. But it is a great Jarrett performance. He was in rare form against an indifferent Razor. Probably the closest thing Double J has to a broomstick match. vs. Chyna- 1999- Exactly what it needed to be. w/ Owen vs. New Age Outlaws- Backlash 1999- Just a good, solid face vs. heel tag match. One of the Outlaws finest. Tags w/ MONGO- WCW 1997- These ruled. Every single one of them. They had a cool dynamic with JJ & Debra as hated heels while everybody (obviously) loved Mongo. Crowds always popped huge for Mongo's hot tags. The best was the time Mongo finally turned on JJ to an epic 10/10 pop. *And I'm sure he had loads of solid ***ish matches with the likes of Sting, DDP, Christian, AJ, etc. Plus tags and multi man's. Jarrett was more of a solid hand than a great match guy. Even I'll admit that. I personally liked Ol' Double J more as a sports entertainer anyway. And since I'm never gonna say no to a Double J Appreciation Post.... Jeff Jarrett: The World's Greatest Entertainer
*For starters, as I've mentioned a thousand times, he was a cross between Ric Flair & Honkytonk Man. So basically awesome crossed with awesomer. How could I not love this guy? JJ as Doink w/ Lawler vs. Dink- 1994- The greatest JJ moment nobody ever talks about. The master Memphis heels were massive jerks to poor little Dink here. 10/10 ruse by my man Double J. JJ returns to give Ahmed Johnson a headache at IYH December 95- Umm this one is pretty self explanatory. I'll just add that I marked out huge for this whole segment....except the stupid Buddy Landell bit. But even that was hilarious in hindsight. JJ & The NWA give Bradshaw a Horsemen style beatdown- Raw Early 98- Good (dare I say great?) angle involving a bunch of dudes who weren't over. Fwiw this is one of the things that made me a Bradshaw fan after two years of totally not caring. Also reminded me of how great JJ would have been as the 3rd Man in the NWO as I expected him to be. Stupid WCW.... JJ rides a horse to the ring dressed in a light up outfit- Raw Spring 98- Jeff Jarrett > Your Favorite Wrestler Jeff Jarrett: Celebrity Hater- Ben Stiller, Cindy Margolis, Gary Coleman, that Beetlejuice Guy and (possibly) Toby Keith, Gennifer Flowers & David Arquette (forget the details) all felt the wrath of Double J. Dude worked with more celebrities than just about anybody ever. Just goes to show he could be trusted. Jeff Jarrett: Woman Hater- This was during the Chyna feud and was probably the most over JJ ever got during his WWF runs. Practically every woman in WWF felt the wrath of Double J, including senior citizens (the first elderly Mae Young assault!) and ring announcers. Oh, and celebrities absolutely were harmed during this run. It's also the lone good IC Title run between Rock in '98 & Orton in 03-04. Jarrett vs. Hogan- TNA Late 2003- JJ clocked Hogan with his trademark guitar during a Japanese press conference. TNA hyped it forever. I remember thinking this could be the big money match to finally solidify TNA as a viable alternative. Sadly it was not to be. And Hogan wouldn't return for like 7 years. MMA Jarrett- TNA- Big Pete turned me on to this sports entertainment gold a few years ago. MMA badass Jeff Jarrett beats up children....and Amazing Red. Who is practically a child. *Basically, Double J was a heel's heel. He never tried to be a cool heel. He never pandered for cheers. He was a jerk. Which is the way it ought to be. Dude knew his role and played it to perfection imo. Big Pete wrote "Whether you cheered him, booed him, watched him or changed the channel, Jeff was able to get an emotional reaction out of you." Fact Check: True. And here's just one good example of that.... I was at that show (mainly to see Double J). People HATED him. It was glorious. Between tickets & my brand new Double J t-shirt, that was at least a 300 dimer for our hero, by the way. Along those same lines, my big dream match in 2006 was Double J at his most hated invading ROH to challenge Danielson for the ROH Title. Oh. My. God. It would have been like RVD/Cena, only probably even worse. I'd have plunked down ALL THE DIMES to see that one if it was in Philly, or even Jersey. That's one of Gabe's biggest missed opportunities imo. Then there's the time some TNA fan in a Rey Mysterio masked charged the ring on Double J. This was PROBABLY a work. But it was a believable work considering I'm still not 100% sure whether it was a work or a shoot. Double J really did have that much heat. Oh, and the Orchestra Match with Dutch Mantell. I mean, it's an Orchestra Match. It needs to be mentioned.

I always thought Double J was going to be the Pete Rose of the WWE HOF. Pretty amazing to see this announced.

It's a shame they are inducting JJ at a time when they aren't willing to talk about TNA. The video they showed on raw announcing his induction primarily focused on his first wwe run, and a snippet of his second wwe run. In WWE he was a midcarder - in WCW he became a main eventer winning the world title multiple time, and then there is a over 9 year run in TNA where he was a multi time NWA world champ and King of the Mountain winner.
To completely gloss over a period of a wrestlers career that was their biggest legacy and spanning over a decade just because it doesn't fit WWE's narrative is a shame.

Yeah, I thought that was weird as well.
Given they showed WCW clips, it's strange they wouldn't at least mention he's a four time WCW heavyweight champion.

Holy shit Baker, I only asked for three great matches! I ordered a burger and fries, but only got a bread bun, no fries, and ten bowls of lettuce. Is he your all-time favourite wrestler? Now that you mention it, I remember thoroughly enjoying at least one of the Jarrett/Angle matches in TNA, which surprised me because I wasn't fond of either at the time. I'll check out Jarrett/HBK soon. Sounds good.

It's like having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Sure some people deserve to be there more than others but really it's just a nice gesture that sells a few more tickets around Wrestlemania and gives the boys one more walk in the sun. For a guy like Jeff Jarrett who has been through some rough times of late, he needed the support of the wrestling fraternity. Jeff checking himself into rehab on the WWE's dime was obviously the foot in the door here and hopefully it's the start of a healthy relationship between the two parties.
As far as highlights go, Bake mentioned it, but his 2011 run where he decided to get into MMA was my favourite. His work with Angle around that time was great and something different for both men. While Kurt was known for having these knock out drag 'em out epics, with Jeff the feud was a lot more personal and it made for more dramatic matches. Considering all the great rivalries Kurt had in his career against guys like Hunter, Rock, Edge, Austin, Benoit, Taker, Lesnar, Eddie, Michaels, Orton, Joe, Styles etc. I could see a case for Jarrett being one of his best opponents. It was a feud that lasted four years and really made for good television.

Besides, there’s people from early in the company’s history who should be in (e.g. Willie Gilzenberg, Phil Zacko, Johnny Valentine, Fabulous Kangaroos, Bobby Davis) and aren’t yet. Hell, even Dr. Jerry Graham who was Vince’s fave wrestler didn’t get in until last year and that was via the Legacy Wing.

Oh my goodness. Then who is your favourite wrestler? Ludvig Borga? Good guess. But no. Borga didn't have the longevity. I'd have to rank him below Pierre in the grand scheme of things. Ric Flair is my favorite wrestler. How terribly boring and mainstream.

The Honky Tonk Man impersonator got in before the genuine article.
What a world we live in.
Would Virgil become the new Koko B. Ware? Would it become a race thing if that happened?

FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!! Look who they're putting in the Celebrity Wing this year. It bothers me that he goes in, when somebody more important, and more influential like Cyndi Lauper continues to be snubbed. Does Vince have a grudge against her or something?

Guess we know who is performing at the show. You can't get mad unless you just discovered wrestling...
And oddly enough I'm listening to Bawitaba on Youtube when reading the thread. It's clearly a sign.

The only good thing I remember regarding Kid Rock and WWE is the 2002 WWE Desire package, played to Lonely Road of Faith.
AND THAT'S IT!
If the rumors are true about WrestleMania going to MetLife next year, then they better get it right, and finally put Cyndi Lauper in it.

I know one thing is for sure if Virgil don’t get in soon along with honky and demolition I am done watching. Honky was offered a spot years ago. He turned it down. They never asked again. Found out last night Hillbilly Jim got in and now I just learned Mud Lick, KY is a real place. That's awesome. I had no idea. Why no talk about the hillbilly? Upon discovering this news I initially wrote Jim off as the Koko B. Ware of 2018 since both were popular lower card babyfaces during the big 80s boom. But then I remembered Jim did backstage work for years and years as the company's first "goodwill ambassador" and he also did a lot of stuff with Coliseum Home Video back in the day. So, sure, Hillbilly Jim can be in. From Mud Lick, Kentucky to the WWF to gracing the esteemed pages of George Plimpton's Paris Review all the way to the WWE Hall of Fame. Congratulations are in order for Josh MacIvor-Andersen's favorite wrestler.

I know Kid Rock isn't an attractive man but that is a hilariously bad photo of him. Also what the fuck has he ever done other than Taker's theme music which sucked? Kevin Federline did more than this poser ever did.

Just watched Double J's Hall of Fame speech. Between that and his Wrestlemania diaries I somehow like him even more than I already did. Hoping he lands a cushy producer/agent/trainer job....assuming he wants it. He does seem to be happy at home with Karen and the kids.

Baker , what did you think of Jarrett and Roadie doing a duet of With My Baby Tonight? It had to happen. The only logical way to end that segment. I love how With My Baby Tonight seems to be much bigger now than it ever was back in 95-96. Also, old man Jeff Jarrett could pass for my dad. I'm just sayin'. Gotta love how Double J continued sticking to his.....unusual fashion choices. That HoF outfit was something else. Yesterday I learned the WWE HoF now has a Legacy Wing where they induct old timers who I'm assuming they don't think would draw in a low key way. Apparently this has been around since 2016. While not the biggest name inducted this year, the most relevant name to longtime WWF fans would have to be Lord Alfred Hayes. His Lordship was a regular on WWF programming from the 80s through the mid 90s.
