Hey, if you’re going to shoot your shot you might as well do it against the Bears.

I think the majority of football fans see this as the complete opposite of a failure. The fact that they are making him inactive rather than just the backup suggests that it's a punitive measure (as I've been alluding to throughout this discussion) rather than just performance related. Depending on how White fares, I wouldn't be that surprised if Wilson is back in sooner rather than later. A majority of football fans don't watch every snap of the Jets and just see stats. My major issue is Saleh's inconsistentcy with what he is holding accountable or not. Elijah Moore gets 1 game for wanting a trade and talking back at Mike LaFleur but Quinnen Williams gets nothing when talking back at Whitecotton the Jets Dline coach. Carl Lawson nails Trubisky late in the Pittsburgh game to give the Steelers a chance for 3 points and nothing is done. John Franklin Myers hits Mac Jones in the 1st meeting which wiped out a pick six in the process. Jets have had a few moments of late hitting QBs but no accountability is held. Quincy Williams hits Jalen Hurts out of bounds in the preseason and isn't even removed so it's tough to even know what Saleh's standard is for what's acceptable or not. Performance matters to Saleh and he will not blink an eye over anybody doing good. Laken Tomlinson was terrible for much of the first half but still starts at LG because of the contract.

Yes because a QB putting up performances that have him directly comparable with some of the all-time great busts and acting like he's not the problem, and a defender committing a late hit penalty is definitely on the same level.

And Wilson owned up to everything today with what he said which shows this was a massive blown up story by the shitty NY media. I expected he would get humbled by the locker room in film session. Just make it about this being a performance thing and not a question he answered straight after an awful loss. Jets should want to try a different look at the spot but this shit is just so overblown by people looking for a story.

I'm going to make this my last post on this because I don't even understand what you are arguing anymore, you seem to be contradicting your own points each time. Pundits are giving him credit but they have overblown this story - what? Has the interrogation of his character gone too far? Yes I absolutely agree, but the #2 QB getting benched/inactivated 20 games into his career is a huge story anyway you slice it (especially when you factor in that it's looking like consecutive whiffs by the Jets following Darnold) so of course it's going to be dissected. Based on Wilson's press conference today it sounds like it was his dad who was able to talk him around and realise his mistake. Like I said, it reads to me that Salah is giving him the smackdown here in the hopes that it will jolt him out of his attitude. The Jets have an easy schedule down the stretch that @thekid alluded to. If he plays his cards right behind the scenes, he could be back playing before the end of the season and at least have one more chance to stake his claim for the future.

Nothing contradictory of my points at all, you are giving acclaim to Saleh for what he did and I am saying he is just picking & choosing of what to hold accountable. Again if this was purely performance, he switches Zach up for Mike White midgame last Sunday. This is a move to please the locker room and nothing more. I just wish he brings the same energy when a roughing the passer happens on someone. 26 games in and I have yet to see this.
Pundits are giving him credit for pulling him in favor of Mike White but my major point is the NY media making a big deal about his answer rather than solely focusing on his play. I really hope Mike White is good because the NY media forgets he's a checkdown machine who with what Buffalo showed last year, if you take away his option to hit the RB in the middle, he lacks the arm strength to make the tight throws necessary to succeed.
It's a big story about his benching(Notice Davis Mills also got benched the same day but no one cares because he was picked farther away and because of the market media) but you just need to look at his stats and say it that way and not get into how he handles himself in a press conference, that's just garbage. I will admit that Zach Wilson has a "media doesn't know shit" mentality as he has said before and he isn't wrong, it's just as you mentioned, you can't really get on that high pedestal when your struggling. Maybe Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers can but you can't do it when your struggling.
I actually found Mike LaFleur's comments to be far better than what Saleh threw out as far as the mechanics needing fine tuning(How many times does he need this? What is our QB coach doing then? Why is Zach Wilson reaching out to his BYU guy John Beck last year for guidance? I wish the NY media actually asked these type of questions) and that he let Zach down as a signal caller(Which despite a terrible game last Sunday, he's been very good).
(no one cares about this)
Zach said it either way, it's just more character assassination to say his dad finally made him accountable. This answer he gave reminds me of when NY media thought it was disrespectful that Mark Sanchez ate a hot dog in a blowout win vs the Raiders years ago. Total nonstory about how he answered things IMHO. but I digress.
