So PW Arcade has just been a triple threat match for awhile, which is still fun but obviously I’d like more engagement so welcome to ideas.

Please give suggestions even if you haven’t played before.

Few I’ve considered

1. Fortnightly threads/moving days:

Some games I get into a rhythm with/want to play more but it’s too close to the cut off so I don’t bother. Also moving to Wednesday (Tuesday for those in the US) would work out easier for me.

2. A “mid-card” division

A lot of people get frustrated they can’t come close to some of the top scores regular members post. However the problem I see is, someone will become the top person in the mid-card threads and create the same issue.

So my ideas was, there’d be a separate division but once you got the top score you’d be moved to the threads with the regular players, creating the opposite problem.

So any ideas how to implement this?

3. Special Events

Had an idea for like a PW Arcade special but it wouldn’t count towards winning the PW Arcade championship if you won.

Like have a game in mind that doesn’t have a high score System but could determine the winner in another way.

4. Let others pick the games?

People who maybe don’t want to submit a score but read the threads can put their name down to be drawn into picking a game.

5. Console/app games?

Everyone seems to at least have a phone or a console, but despite it not being stated it’s always been a browser game.

Especially at 2 weeks people might be more inclined to download a game.

Just an example but “first person to get a solo win in Fortnite/top score in ___ free Multiplatform game” idk.

I just need reminders to check in and try. I forget this is a thing. Need to build the habit

I think what could work is a game(Console or PC) is chosen each month that encourages chatter & discussion for all. It'd have to be something everyone can play or get but maybe that would be a good idea?

System, I like #4 a lot.

Opens up easier engagement, and lets us gladiators combat one another in gimmicks picked by spectators. Feels very Taboo Tuesday... Me likey!

FYI - game related I love triple town and topsoil (phone games) would like to see if anyone would beat my high scores on them

Moving days is a good one. Having the competition to start on a weekend and end on a Friday isn't ideal: you get the initial boom then very little time to improve on high schores until it ends.

The way I see it, most people aren't interested in investing time in browser games when the new Pokemon game is out and all these other cool video games. Contra got the most attention and there's a good reason for that - it's a real video game.

With that in mind the console/app game seems to be the best way forward.

Alright here’s what I’m thinking.

There will be two divisions, one is PW Arcade as normal but has moved to days (to Wednesdays) as suggested. Just the usual casual browser games, it’s not time intensive and if you only mobile or something like 🤯 you can still play every week.


Second division will be monthly or even 2 months of a selected game,
with everyone telling me what consoles/equipment they have. You put your name down for it if you’re keen and there will be a winner(s) of each event but not a title reign that way if you’re not interested in the next month you don’t lose a title reign.

I have a different game in mind so this is just an example for the moment:

First person/team to get a victory Royale in Fortnite wins.

(With second and third place and so forth)

Can go solo/can team up with other PW players but can’t change your teams midway.




Thoughts?

I don't know how to do anything not on my phone.

Aside from that personal constraint, I love everything!

I will be posting our first ever PPV/monthly event next year (which is just over a week away) for those interested.

Game is available on every platform for free including mobile.

Whoever completes the objective first is 1st place and so forth.
Unlike the weekly threads there won’t be a champion just the winner of said event(s).

Free on Steam! Wonderful. Let's install this and give it a go. I've never played a Battle Royale game before. No, not even Fortnite.

As many jokes about it as people make, Fortnite is a brilliant game especially now there’s a no build mode.

I’ve only played a few mins of PUBG to make sure it works so we should be all on an even playing field :lol:

I gave PUBG a whirl and not my kind of game.

Far too much downtime, spent most of my time running/driving around, like GTA but without the fun. Have no idea what any of these weapons are because I'm not a soldier nor American so I just feel lost in the sea of guns. I'm sure some weapons are better than others but how would I know?

Combat itself normally lasts seconds. So 99% of my time is doing nothing. World takes too long to close up.

I got pretty far on my second game - a forced training game against 99 AI - then I started riding a boat. I got off the boat while it was moving, because it's a video game. Somehow the boat ran me over and killed me. You lose, no respawn.

That's when I decided to quit.

Forced training is fine, but forcing 10 matches with AI before you can play other humans is a bit much. Maybe there are more interesting game modes once you get over the training hump but the can't be bothered.

Appreciate the effort System. If other PWers join I'd consider a multiplayer game. Maybe.

I have another game in mind so I’ll change to that, it’s also considered one of the hardest games of all time

I don't mind difficult if it's fun!

Battle Royales just not my cup of tea.
