I'll probably miss most of the action this week with Christmas, so I'm glad the NFL has given us the most interesting game of the week on Thursday night. The Jets are going to have to go again with Zach Wilson this week with Mike White still not cleared, and although he wasn't terrible against the Lions actually making a surprising number of big plays, he (and the coaching staff) melted down in the clutch. Jacksonville are surging on the back of Trevor Lawrence taking the leap, although they face a stiff test in the Jets impressive defence, and they did lose starting LT Cam Robinson to injury. 

Likely clinch scenarios are Buffalo winning the AFC East with a win or a Miami loss, Cincinnati clinching a playoff birth with a win or Jets loss, and Philadelphia winning the NFC East and clinching the NFC #1 seed with a win. The Eagles will probably go against Dallas without Jalen Hurts though who has a sprained throwing shoulder, which would pave the way for Gardner Minshew to make his first start of 2022, just days after his college coach Mike Leach passed away. 

The late game is the 50th anniversary tribute to the Immaculate Reception, and takes on even more poignancy with the passing of it's protagonist, another football icon, Franco Harris. The Raiders need the win to keep their remote playoff chances alive, while Pittsburgh have won three of their last four in a late surge to keep Mike Tomlin's no losing season streak alive. 

The pick of the action on Christmas is the early game between the Packers and Dolphins. Green Bay took care of business on Monday to stay alive, and their offence actually looked functional with Watson and Doubs both out on the field together. The big issue for them in this matchup appears to be their soft zone coverage against Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, the two speedy receivers could have a field day against Joe Barry's disappointing defence. 

My big league fantasy season ended for me last week and I’m still in mourning.

Hopefully we get some good football games this week to bring me back to the life of football.

oh yeah I forgot to do the PW league previews! My red hot Helmet Rattlers riding a seven-game win streak (we started 2-6!) take on #1 seed rad catz in their debut season, while mikec is representing those of us still here against tinybignuts in a rematch of the 2020 championship game.

Starting the battle for Bryce Young/CJ Stroud we've got defending champion Blindy against KING KID in the CMC derby while in the other consolation semi my friend Peter is hoping his Miami connection can get back on track and lead him to a win against Sammy.

I appreciate the President's Trophy, but what I truly want is that Big Gold Belt. It's crazy to see @admin in the playoffs and not Blindy, I would not have taken that bet.

The fanbase was patient with T-Law and the Kennesaw Kid and now they are getting their flowers. 

Jalen Hurts injury gonna be too much to overcome I fear. Hes been holding the roster together most the season.

And lost Kyler and Dameon Pierce the week before.

Jets need this one bad, with Trevon Walker, Foley Fatukasi and a patchwork OLine due to injuries for JAX, the Jets should really dominate the trenches tonight and if they don't, serious questions need to happen & be asked of on the coaching staff.

Jets should win this one, and I feel good about this. Especially if it's raining, feels like a game that both backs need to take over and Etienne as impressive as he is, has some fumbling issues so it might get exposed a little bit in bad weather.

No James Robinson for the revenge game. Sheesh. Why does nobody like him?

If Robinson gets a few more snaps IIRC the 6th round pick owed to JAX becomes a 5th so they are playing this carefully. BAM KNIGHT has also come out of nowhere as all of us Jet fans knew after seeing him in the preseason. Now why Robinson is behind Ty Johnson is beyond me, I guess Jets FO trust Ty Johnson more on pass protection and pass catching(Which he sucks at).

Not many people know about Bam Knight, UDFA from NC ST. Tore the Bears up good in his emergence game. He has a bum ankle so curious how many snaps he sees tonight but he runs hard.

And Strevsanity is active here, I actually can see some wildcat plays with him. Chris Strevler mania is running wild. 

Using Craig Carton soundbites is a terrible job, guy is like a poor man's Howard Stern for sports radio.

Had cup of coffee with ARI but he's like Tim Tebow basically only he has some okay arm talent. He was brought on the active roster, not sure why he didn't get in vs the Pats in Foxboro. I wanna see him get in tonight. Not sure why NYJ carries 4 QBs but Streveler is basically a running QB.

Pretty shameful the Jets fans are on a boo play by play basis, some of the most fickle, most impatient fans around.

Jags have done some really nice designed plays, really getting guys out there and open and TLaw has been throwing the ball quickly. Really having the Jets defense guessing.

It's really frustrating to see Pederson unlock Engram by utilising his short range speed rather than running him on deep routes constantly - something Giants coaches were never able to work out. He had a slow start in Jacksonville but has really come on strong lately and should finish with career highs across the board.

Jags were just consistently shredding the Jets defense, I think the way Zach and co. are playing, that TD along with the rain coming in might be enough.

After that long drive, the Jets offense cannot do a 3 and out. Need to chew some sort of clock. 

8 first downs on a drive is pretty incredible, and they did it all without a third down until the TD sneak. This is just a great offence right now.

Lawrence looks like he's in a shampoo commercial tonight when they show him on the sideline with the NY night breeze in his hair. :lol:

A wet Jetlife is a disaster, going to be a bunch of slips.

I know Evan Engram is solid but cmon he looks like all pro out here today, come fucking on. the safeties have been bums all year, we need to take one in the 1st round.

Not a fan of kicking the FG here for JAX, would have pinned JEts offense deep in their territory with the rain and fanbase on them. Kicker somehow nailed it in brutal conditions though.
