So I'm guessing there's not a whole lot of interest in this seeing as we've got to the end of Week 2 without anyone posting - but I watched a game tonight so thought I'd chuck something up. Anyone who's paid attention over the years knows that I am enthusiastic about these Spring leagues, and this is generally more of the same, perfectly watchable football.
They've toned down some of the gimmicky broadcast stuff that I've seen in the past like helmet cameras, and the unique camera angles they did use were enjoyable, and having Dean Blandino mic'ed up to explain referee decisions in real time is a nice touch. Matt Berry is a good announcer who will be familiar to anyone who watches midweek CFB games.
As far as the game goes, Houston were the superior team and deserved their win. A couple of special teams errors (their returner busted a huge punt return first, but then fumbled on consecutive returns after that) allowed Arlington back into the game, but they returned to dominance in the second half through an effective dual QB offence. Arlington's downfall was their inability to protect their quarterback Drew Plitt (who I watched many a time in MACtion for Ball State) and as a result were simply unable to get anything happening down the field - I believe he finished something like 0/11 on passes over 10 yards.
