I think I might be dying right now. Anybody on here got the flu yet? Shit hit me like a ton of bricks last night and I've been down all day, hopefully I can get to feeling better by Monday morning so I can go make a check next week, may have to pull a Walter Payton.

This year's flu is really bad. Get to a doctor if you can.

So far, no. we get flu shots in this house and don't tell me how it's all poison. I feel better knowing we got the shot than if we hadn't.

We have avoided the flu strains this year, but we did get the stomach bug a few months ago that was as bad as I have felt in years.

Never got the shot in my life. Been lucky as I have rarely gotten sick. Guess you can't catch anything if you stay in your parent's basement.

I'm still alive, I refuse to let this shit take me without a fight. Bad news is my littles littles came down with the flu, most likely contracted it from me sometime last week. She was in pretty bad shape Friday night, had to take her to the emergency room yesterday morning, she's feeling a little better, I've had that little girl doing pull ups and hitting focus mitts she's strong as an ox for a 3 year old, she's going to whoop the flu's ass not the other way around.

It all started Friday night, shit ran through me out of nowhere, all muscles sore and hurting, head spinning, trouble breathing, going from burning up hot to freezing cold. Worst part of it all was my head and neck hurting so bad, head felt like it was going to explode. My head finally stopped hurting here within the past hour or two, no longer have the chills. Only thing is my throat is getting sore and upper part of my lungs feel like they are burning and my nose is running like a water faucet, it's running so bad I've plugged both nostrils up with 12 ply gauze pads cut in half. Also been taking "Thera-Flu" the shit you pour into hot water and drink.

Time is dragging by so fucking slow, it feels like 4 days have passed and it's only mid day Sunday. I finally mustered up the strength to go to the store and get some chicken noodle soup. I have had no appetite whatsoever since Friday night, been downing gatorade though. Right now I'm looking for something to watch on my Roku, I found Cyborg 2! 1993! Never even knew this was a thing, it has Jack Palance, Billy Drago, and.... Angelina Jolie!?!?! WHAAAAAA???

I don't know how hard it would be in the US but I got the flu once at 16, worst 2 weeks of my life so next year I went to the GP, got the shot and have gone for the shot every year since.

I'll definitely be getting the shot from now on, fuck this bullshit.

The shot hasn't even been effective this year.

I have to get the shot because of the meds I’m on, but I think I would by now anyway. A lot of insurances will give it to you for free just to save on the bills later and I can walk into a pharmacy and be out ten minutes later with it. No financial or personal reason to not do it so I like the modicum of safety it provides.

I just got my shot last week, and encourage you to do the same once you get better.

is it cross country to call stomach bugs the flu too? like calling it the stomach flu. even though it isn't influenza. or is this just a regional thing?

Feeling a little better this morning but there will be no Walter Payton from me today. Really sucks to bust ass so hard all week and then just get completely shot down for the whole weekend, now it's time to go back to work, sick or not I got to get back at it tomorrow.

Influenza is far different than the flu , people who lump it all together drive me crazy. And generally speaking , influenza has nothing to do with a stomach bug. 

Influenza and the flu are the same thing. The flu isn’t stomach related. People just misuse the word flu all the time which is irritating when they have the shot then throw up a month later and complain about how the shot didn’t protect them from something it wasn’t designed to fight.

I know all of this and agree. I should of said what people consider to be the flu. 

The shot though hasn't been as effective this year either. According to the CDC it's about 30% effective and according to my wife , a nurse in the ER the doctors are her hospital are saying it's been closer to 10-15% effective for this area. 

It's also the cause of death of a few elderly people in the area.

Or, in my case, usually just a bad hangover, beer shits... And possibly mild alcohol poisoning.

Man I pussed out of work again today, couldn't get any sleep last night. I'm getting so so soft in my old age.
