According to Cageside Seats, WWE plans to have Ronda Rousey challenge Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s title and Royal Rumble winner Asuka face Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women’s title at WrestleMania 34, says PW Insider.



However, now according to the Wrestling Observer, the actual plan looks to be putting together the tag team match they teased all the way back at WrestleMania 31 in 2015: Triple H and Stephanie McMahon vs. Ronda Rousey and The Rock.



They note, however, that it’s unclear if they can actually do that match, considering The Rock’s insanely busy schedule and ability to wrestle with his movie deals. He got injured during a match against John Cena years ago and it affected his film work.



Ronda indicated in a post Royal Rumble interview that she’ll obviously be at WrestleMania and in what capacity, it’s all speculation right now.

then Charlotte can lose and win another belt for #6...then #7...then mickie might be able to win her #7 before retiring...

Since it is being rumoured, this seems like the place for me to post the match layout I envisaged for this match in the months after Mania 31 when it was thought to be a possible Mania 32 match. It obviously would have worked so much better with Rousey still undefeated (with the "could she beat men" talk, like there was at the time) and coming the year after the Mania 31 segment and the Rock/Rousey Fast and the Furious connection being relatively fresh in everyone's minds. It also would have required Steph to be willing to be a complete chickenshit heel.

- Triple H and Steph come out in some over-the-top, dickish Conan the Barbarian and Barbarianess entrance, acting all cocky and smug and they eskimo kiss once in the ring.

- Rock comes out to a huge pop (you could even do a Fast & Furious-style entrance if you want).

- Then Rousey comes out to “Bad Reputation” looking all super serious to likely a bigger pop.

- Rousey tells Rock she wants to start, HHH asks Steph if she is OK and she acts all tough.

- Then when they are one-on-one, Steph starts to brick it, realises what she has gotten into and runs to her corner screaming and tags H to big boos.

- H comes in and Rousey turns to tag in Rock but stops. Then slowly turns around, stares down H and gives Rocky’s “Just Bring It” taunt. Guaranteed monster pop.

- H would glance out to the crowd with a great unsure look (think the look he does after Taker reveals his baldness at Mania 28) and a “Ronda’s Gonna Kill You” chant would be likely.

- The ref would be telling Rousey to tag, but H starts looking cocky as Steph shouts “get her, baby” in her best annoying voice.

- H is thinking “it’s just a girl”, starts asking for a test of strength and then through his cockiness, ends up eating a couple of judo throws before stooging into a Rock right-hand from the apron.

- Ref makes Rousey tag out (so it never looks like she backed down from anyone) and Rock comes in, so he and HHH run through some of their classic sequences.

- H would get on top for a good chunk but it would end with Rock on top, knocking H to the outside, and Rousey demanding the tag.

- Rousey gets the tag and enters the ring but Steph won’t come in. So Rousey stalks her outside the ring and forces her back into it, but before she can get her, Steph makes the tag out again to boos.

- H comes back in and Rousey turns her back to tag Rock. Like a dick, H goes to jump her from behind (I'm normally the last person for male-on-female violence in wrestling but this would work because it is undefeated monster Rousey and ends up being a stooging spot again). But Rock pulls her out the way, H hits the turnbuckle and Rousey hits another throw on him and Rock is in again.

- Rock and H run through some more of their spots and Rock knocks H into the corner and he inadvertently tags in Steph, who looks shocked.

- Rock flips her over the ropes and she lands hard, winding herself. Rock gives the big pantomimey tag to Rousey, who comes in.

- Steph is on her hands and knees trying to get up when she notices Rousey standing over her. Rousey proceeds to throw her all over the place.

- Hunter tries to save his wife but Rock cuts hims off and they brawl to the outside and take each other out.

- After playing with her food for a bit, Rousey signals for the Armbar, but J&J (assuming they are still Authority guys at this point) appear before she locks it in.

- Rousey fights off J&J, but this allows a just-about recovered H to throw the hammer to Steph (this gets the crowd going “oh, for fuck sake, they aren’t going to give Steph the win are they?”)

- Rousey turns and blocks the hammer, gives Steph a “you’re dead” look and Rock Bottoms her.

- Hunter comes and goes to attack Rousey, who ducks, and walks into a Rock Bottom from The Rock.

- With both Steph and H down, Rock and Rousey do stereo People’s Elbows on them.

- Rock rolls H out the ring, takes out J&J on their second interference attempt and slowly backs into the corner and does a “she’s all yours” gesture.

- Rousey circles Steph and then grabs her arm. Steph has a look of horror (camera men told to make sure they catch that) before Rousey locks in the Armbar. Steph immediately taps but Rousey holds on for a good few seconds until the ref breaks her off.

- Steph rolls out the ring, screaming and crying, and begins to gingerly walk up the ramp with her husband, who looks back at the ring with scorn.

- Rock and Rousey celebrate in the ring and do stereo Rock arm up corner poses.

I don't feel like the match will work close to as well as it would have done 2 years ago if it takes place.

Asuke/Charlotte was sort of a dream scenario when she was NXT champ, so I'm glad it's off the table!

Yeah I don't really get this either. I feel like Asuka/Charlotte and Ronda/Alexa would make for much better results than the other way around.
