We're just a few weeks out from Notre Dame vs. Navy but already everything has gone to shit.

The regional conferences we grew up with are vastly becoming a thing of the past, as the Pac 12 continues to implode with USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington now departing for the B1G, while Arizona, ASU, Colorado and Utah will be joining the Big XII, all effective by the 2024 season.

It's still unseen what becomes of Cal, Stanford, Oregon State or Washington State. Do they merge with either of those Power 5's or do they combine with the Mountain West and retain the Pac 12 name?

While all of it is a little fun to speculate over, the traditionalist in me absolutely hates it. Cincinnati, WVU or Notre Dame would belong here if you're expanding, not 4-5 programs some 2000 miles away. The amount of bullshit this heaps onto a non-football "student" athlete is also ridiculous and unfair.

But with that elephant in the room out of the way, time to focus on the new season itself. There is currently no coaches top 25 poll out yet but most abundantly rational pundits correctly have THE Ohio State University rated as numero uno to kick off the season.

Georgia should admittedly be the favorites though, coming off back-to-back titles and looking to complete the threepeat. UGA still boasts a wealth of great talent at several positions but have yet to announce the successor to QB Stetson Bennett.

Bama are returning with the #1 recruiting class and a laser focused Nick Saban. It feels like he's had enough of UGA slobbering all over them and this might be the year I think they finally punch back.

And then there's Texas and _ichigan, who are still somehow relevant in this discussion. Speaking of discussion, feel free to add to it; thoughts, predictions and any other frathousery can now commence.....

Conference alignment is so fucked up.

You have the Big Ten and Big XII becoming literally coast-to-coast conferences. The PAC Conference, who once upon a time had 12 teams, is being shaved down to just four. And you're seeing classic rivalries die right before our eyes.

College Football ain't the same no more.

It's only been 1 drive but I am all in on Coach Prime and Buffaloes. Just a different tempo, operating like a well oiled machine. So much trickery, so much precision. Had a really good TCU squad that is not far removed from the National Title game on their heels.

Colorado may have just screwed themselves out of a bowl game. They had a 29-0 halftime lead against one-win Stanford, AND BLEW IT!!!

And looking at the rest of the schedule, they might not get to six wins. And after efforts like this, I wouldn't hold out any hope.
