Like the thread title says, when it comes to video games, what's your favorite and/or least favorite genres in the medium? For that matter, what are your favorite games in said genre?

For me, I would say my top three favorites, would be...

1. Platformers
2. Metroidvanias
3. Beat em up's or Shoot em up's

The last one is a toss up for me and could go either way depending on the mood I'm in.

I will come back in a bit, going into more detail.

Favorite:
1) Platformers(Doesn't matter if it's 2D or 3D, I am always game for a good one. I grew up on these so of course it's taking #1)
2) JRPGs/Turn Based RPGs(I really prefer the old school turned based ones over the action RPG ones that get ushered in these days)
3) Visual Novels(A new genre that has creeped up for me over the past few years, I made a thread on this genre so it was going to get it's place)

Least Favorite:
1) Real Time Strategy(This just isn't for me. The worst is when it bunkers down an entire game to make it mandatory. See Brutal Legend or Gears of War 4
2) Multiplayer First Person Shooters(I can play Overwatch but that's about it. Particularly the COD's etc. do absolutely nothing for me)
3) Battle Royale or Asymmetic Survival Horror games(Not a Multiplayer gamer so these do next to nothing for me. I get the popularity but these don't interest me)
