This was shared on my twitter. Super sad stuff about Kong's early life and the racism she had to endure and her mom.

I know racism is a problem everywhere but Japan seems particularly blatant and unremorseful. Basically, every celebrity of mixed ethnicity has experienced racism; Hana Kimura, Yu Darvish, Naomi Osaka...

Yeah this seemed severe, and deeply embedded.
Feel for Kong, as everything I heard about her was she was like a great person. I know people loved meeting her on her US tours, and wrestlers would post cute pictures with her themselves.
Funny in the end Kong ended up the most well known joshi ace of that era internationally. Manami Toyota may be the ace of aces but more people know Kong worldwide, and she is perhaps one of the most dominant people to ever be in a Survival Series match.
Always had me wondering after I learned about that era of joshi, and the girls that were in WWE, why did WWE did not try harder to keep them. I really think the men were upset at being outworked when they be on shows with them, as these girls were a decade ahead of what others were doing in the ring at least. They were flying better than the guys, doing hard strikes, submissions, chaining, and just working faster. Crowds tended to be hot too. Really think the good old school superstar era guys were upset they were just utterly outclassed by women.
