With the republican war on education, a massive wave of students just not showing up is going on nationally with absentee rates skyrocketing. Basically when schools came back from COVID in many areas the students did not. Estimated 30% of students are missing 10% or more of the school year. Some teachers are claiming half their classes are empty on any given day.

Which brings to this new phase. Some republican controlled districts are seeing this as a reason to start cutting days. Some districts moving to four day weeks, others adding more vacations throughout the year. In both cases the days will not be made up. Because of the reduced days.
The plan to defund public schools is now in action, by simply reducing public education.
