I'm doing a two-in-one, as neither game needs a separate thread and at least this way, it might generate more discussion. Anyway, as you could probably tell by the thread title, this is about the Mario Kart and Smash Bros. games.

Mostly, I just want to ask, what's next for both franchises?

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Super Smash Bros.: Ultimate are truly just that, the ultimate version of both games. I'm honestly not sure what Nintendo can do, with the next installments, without the games coming off as inferior. Like what can be done, or rather what would you like to be seen done with both game series?

How about a Nintendo Heroes RPG?

An RPG where you the stars from the world of Nintendo, come together to fight these new great foes. Similar to what the Disney characters did in Kingdom Hearts. You could potentially have Mario, Link, Samus, and Pikachu in the same party. And perhaps have more players to swap out with, like Kirby, Donkey Kong, Fox, Captain Falcon, Zelda, Peach, and yes, even Bowser and Ganon to help out.

The obvious answer is that they'll likely just port them over to Switch 2 with a couple of new features to entice fans. I can see a Smash Ultimate with another Fighter Pass that includes Waluigi, Geno etc. and same deal with Mario Bros.

I could see Mario Kart going down the Diddy Kong Racing path and fleshing out the single player. Big giant hub world with customisation, different vehicles and a big storyline to play through.

Smash would be a soft reboot with a different aesthetic and instead of being a celebration of what was, it'd also be a showcase of what's to come. There would be a heavy emphasis on the narrative of the story, with characters all sporting unique looks (skins would be a huge focus) with a few original characters introduced alongside fan favourites.
