We here in the Newzroom would make sure to stalk her once or twice a year and my most recent slide into her DMs... well the results shocked even me. At the height of covid they had one of those classic Geocities/Angelfire under construction layouts and as of this week... she's gone. PW.com has a blank page suggesting a database error or some nonsense. Funny we used to call that Tuesday when we were there. Was PW ever the same without us? Do we consider it a "win"? Do we all piss on her grave? Or are we classy as shit? RIP PW.com...

NOTIFICATION SQUAD

2023 tested our board in ways it never had. Not really but we were forced to adapt to the new normal. Long-time user and frequent member of the 1.1er Stable, 🤯 , disappeared on us. One day he just stopped showing up for work (wassupwithdat?) and left us hanging. We finally got an update and it's about as good of an ending as you could hope for. New family member @daughter has arrived while he gets his mind body and soul right. He may never come back, but he survived the pull back to our universe which as anyone who resonated with our previous TALK can attest is no easy task. And this feat was accomplished without going nuclear [DELETE]... thank you for your service Pissing Iris. Is @bacon still around? And does this count as being a first time Dad since son 's DNA belonged to another?

Looks like we lost another one, at least for now. c ragequit on us and Off Topic along with AEW have suffered ever since. theend you got a lot of shelves to stock motherfucker! Your 15 minute break is long over. Not sure why he left but seems Gyro LC is to blame to the absolute shock of no one. Remains to be seen if anyone knows where to find him (some cringe Chikara subreddit no doubt) but hopefully he comes back one of these days.

I think C just gotta take some time to just breathe and not get too involved in whatever. He was great in V&G honestly, very PC-centric tastes but he brought something to the forum.

It's an acquired taste and I guess I just stopped going to the AEW side and seldom pop up on OT so I guess I just haven't been hit by that far out there stuff. I've seen some of the craziness, I just think I get back to shore before getting too deep, where i'm at the "point of no return". 

As someone said, post an antagonist comment and expect an antagonist reply. And most of it was, antagonist stuff.

I'll commend the guy for being able to continue to argue his point, despite the truth and reality suggesting he's dead wrong. That takes commitment, and stamina.

I never want to get to a point t where my ideology frames how I see the world.
I always desire to be shaped by facts not what I wish was true.

I also started out as a card carrying unionist left wing voter so I do have some perspective on different viewpoints

Interesting question, Christianity shapes my ethics and my ethics control what I choose to do.

However, I don't believe that there is an exclusive viewpoint when it comes to Christianity and politics, there is plenty on both sides of the spectrum to love and hate.

I will also add that the West while claiming to be secular, derives most their morals for biblical roots.

Agreed. c has got me in to some fantastic bands over the years, Skinny Puppy being the main one. I don’t know why he’s hyper fixated on US politics but again I don’t live in the US and isn’t part of my day to day life.

Sad to hear that c left. Hopefully just a break. I had no problem with his posts and he certainly didn't rile me up like he did to others.

I think C is good dude. I haven’t always thought that., and I’m not just saying it because we share some of the same beliefs. I think people I spar with more than I ever did with him are good dudes too.


I have a different perspective I guess I left for a long time. Lots changed while I was gone. But one thing stayed the same. This place feels safe most of the time. Like you can be yourself here, pretty much say what you want as long as you don’t hurt someone n the process. There are times I come here and couldn’t deal with whatever news story he was talking about. So I avoided it. There were times I wanted to engage so I did. Don’t understand the turn some people took with him… maybe I’m too detached… or maybe I’m biased and can’t see it, but I dunno, if you don’t like what he posts it’s easy enough to avoid… at least it hasbeen for me. Hope he comes back, I think he really needs this place.


Then again I needed it for a long time too. Maybe he can find out more about who he is away from here. And when /if he comes back it will be good for him. Wanting to stop by here and chat seems way healthier than needing too.

I don't think Christianity is the source of all morality, plenty of people with and without morals regardless of their faith.
I also see some errors in how modern Christianity has turned morals into a log book of how to get to heaven when you die.

The only way to improve the wealth of a society is to increase the size of the economy, but when people take a rabid approach to the size of everyone's slices to the exclusion of the overall size of the pie.... we're screwed

See, I'm a Christian but I don't seek to introduce my ideology to every thread, I also don't push my politics in every thread. It's just enormously wearying when people want to see all of life through the same lens, especially when it's not there.

No, I didn't become more conservative as a result of becoming more successful. I had the opportunity to meet some very rich and successful people through my job, I was already disillusioned with the union thing by this time, I realised that making money is a game and nobody taught the rules in school.

My issue against socialism is practical more than ideological. It's a great idea but it can't work because it ignores the fundamental truths of human nature, if you remove the incentive for hard work, people won't do it.

This is my issue with socialism today, it's not about equity, it's about envy. People would rather everyone had $20 each than one guy has a $100 and everyone else has $30.
