Am I alone in thinking Gypsy Rose Blanchard could've and was escaping the torture of her mom when Gypsy Rose Blanchard decided to kill her mom? I don't see this as a self-defense/burning bed case. It seemed like some sort of sick revenge.

Hard to know if a child who has been abused her whole life would really know they could just escape the abuser that has had control of them for that long. She has talked about how well her mom had worked at discrediting her by referring to her as developmentally delayed.
Either way she got 2nd degree murder, seems like the courts wanted to see it the same way you did while also acknowledging that the whole situation was fucked.

Yeah you’re gonna have a hard time convincing me that a child systematically destroyed and forced into more than 15 body mutilating unnecessary surgeries. And years of drugs and and treatment s that were also all unnecessary is able to figure anything out. The types of drugs she was kept on for years… I’m not gonna second guess what she did, knowing what she was put through. The mind altering effects of the drugs alone should give any reasonable person doubt that she was capable of making good choices.

The child was medicated, beaten and malnourished. That would have completely dehumanised her, anything that happened as a result is the fault of the mother. I do find it sad that she gets out of prison and gets to live her life while the guy manipulated into doing the murder is still locked up...

Because otherwise he’s just a guy that agreed to murder someone. Plenty of other ways he could’ve helped her in that situation, but he went along with her plan and did something he knew was wrong so he could have sex with a girl on the internet. He obviously has his own mental health stuff, but Missouri’s never really cared about that. I am surprised he isn’t going to be executed.

I didn't think you would find what I said controversial, if a person is dehumanised to the extent we excuse their plotting to murder their o2n mother, I would think there is room for understanding that they might also be capable of complete mercenary manipulation of another human, especially one on the spectrum.

I don’t support capital punishment either. I just spent most of my life living in the state that this happened in and know they have executed people that are worse off mentally than this kid seems to be. I don’t know of any evidence that she lied to the kid to get him to kill her mom. She definitely wanted him to do it, strongly encouraged him to do it, etc. but I have lower standards for the person being abused her entire life than I do for the guy on the internet that agreed to go along with killing someone.

My wife’s made me watch this docuseries going on Lifetime right now. What a disturbing story. I honestly feel bad AND don’t feel bad for her. It’s just a twisted story all around.

This is occupying roughly half of my brain at the moment (the other half is the RHOSLC finale) I am totally hooked. Binged The Act over the weekend and was gripped, couldn't recommend it more, Patricia Arquette was SO good.

Arguably a revenge killing over self defense. Running away with the man she conned seemed plausible

I have mixed feelings about this case. While I am glad that Gypsy is free from her mother, the way it was done is very troubling. When she was allowed to use the computer, I wished she had used it to alert the authorities instead of using it for online dating. Perhaps Gypsy felt that the authorities would not believe her story, since everyone in town thought her mother was an angel. Murder is never an option. Now that she is free, she can live the life she always wanted. even though the guy who is the murder is still in prison. This is a very strange case to be sure. -

Murder is never an option. What if I asked you to complete the name of the American crime drama television series starring Angela Lansbury " _ _ _ _ _ _, She Wrote "
