A new year means a new thread being posted.

Admittedly for me, I've always viewed these kinds of lists, as my favourite matches of the year. Last year was a fantastic year for me (in regards to pro wrestling), with one hundred and eighty matches from eight different promotions making my overall list. Going into January, the first big event is of course New Japan's Wrestle Kingdom 18 event. Outside of that, however, the WWE will be airing three TV special events for the first week of this month, with Day 1 (Monday Night Raw), New Year's Evil (NXT), and New Year's Revolution (Smackdown).

Might try and keep a list this year, who knows. Wrestling hasn’t felt this hot in a long time.

1. Danielson vs. Okada - Wrestle Kingdom - ****1/2

This felt more special than the forbidden door match and having that as an appetiser gave this one more story which was great. Thought this was hugely engaging and some fantastic arm work. Okadas big lanky legs really make the submission stuff work, because it’s always believable when he finds a way out. I found the ending quite abrupt and not as creative as I’d have expected but it really makes you hope for a rubber match that feels more definitive than rounds one or two. Still felt like they were holding something back.

Ospreay Alexander 2

2024 is kicking things off with so many great matches, if this is any indication, for the rest of the year, then it's going to be a lot of fun, I reckon. As far as January goes, the relaunch of TNA has been my favorite thing, Hard To Kill was a fantastic PPV, and it was great to see both Ospreay and Okada pop up, on recent Impact episodes. CMLL putting out some great stuff as well, especially Mascara Dorada/Templario, as well as the Futuro/Neon vs. Magnus/Rugido tag team match. Also, I really enjoyed the women's Royal Rumble match, so there's that as well.

Thought this was really really fantastic but suffered the same way the Okada match did in that it felt like a part 2 out of 3. But the watching them together is just such a joy. They’re so lightning quick at times it’s staggering to watch. Was really caught off guard by the finish, which I suppose is how the middle match of a trilogy should feel. My overwhelming feeling watching the match though was how sad I am that Danielson is wasting his final years in a company where he’s just another guy and nothing he does matters. Because he’s still the best in the world but if he’s not presented as important in AEW, as no one is, then it’s all just meaningless. Would rather he be full time in New Japan if he’s not going to go back to WWE. Or least gets to do the G1 this year before he finishes being full time.

They need new belts and one for each brand - it’s such an easy way to utilise lots of guys and this match was such a good example of that. Just a really solid, exciting tag team match that was the staple of early NXT that I think will be a big asset to the main roster if they can get going properly. One team hogging the belts is all that’s holding them back.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to watch as much as I'd like, however, from what I did manage to watch, these were my favourite matches for February. Much like with the Royal Rumble match itself, I thought the women had the better Elimination Chamber match as well. I missed the second match in the best-of-three series, but I enjoyed the first and third matches between Ace & Bey Club and the Grizzled Young Vets, well worth checking out. Bryan Danielson as always, has a few good bangers as well.

Wrestlemania weekend is always exciting, and not always because of the WWE either, so April should be a fun month of wrestling.

Gonna get this started now. Need to write down the matches I have already watched while they are still fresh before we dive into Wrestlemania. Supercard of Honor was a stacked show and almost every match was good and worthy of at least an "honor"able mention. Gotta place them while I am still thinking about it. There should be no argument over this.

But in my opinion, I think the Will Ospreay/Bryan Danielson match deserves a far grander title than just Match of the Year.

In my opinion, I think this was the Match of the Century.

Will / Bryan easily mine as well. Doubt it will be beaten.  

I almost want to have a tie for #1 this year. We may have just seen the greatest wrestling match and greatest sports entertainment match ever in the span of less than a month.

If Cody vs. Roman was wrestling's version of The Avengers then Ospreay vs. Danielson was wrestling's version of [insert whatever your idea of a perfect movie is]. The Godfather or some shit, I dunno.

We really saw the best of both companies in the last month. It’s a great time to be a wrestling fan.

Last night solidified my opinion that Bryan Danielson is the best in ring worker of all time. He’s always been neck and neck with Bret but his latest run is putting him over the top for me.

Will definitely check out Oz Spray Danielson. Can't sleep on the Step Brothers of matches.

Dragon as the GOAT is a really safe bet. For now at least, think Willy takes that crown down the line if he can stay injury free.

Danielson/Ospreay was like the Godfather? Is that right? Am I going to have to watch this match?

I would Todd. It was REALLY good.  Then if you do not like it, you know you will be safe to skip any match that people rave about with Will in it, as this should be a regular thing with him.
