Apparently he was doing shady shit with his Black Adam movie/franchise and then things came out about him with Fast & Furious too. The Rock’s public star has fallen massively IMO. I do think the ego-driven choices he makes - and his lack of career risk taking we saw in his early years - has hurt him. Careers are cyclical, and while he’s not the first action star to go one note, he’s also not the first (or last) to see his star fizzle because of that.
The first time I saw the public opinion turn against him was when he did the on-field MC appearance for the LA Super Bowl. Twitter seemed to all go after him, and the discourse hasn’t been the same since.
And Ironmaiden … Rock didn’t kill the DCEU by a long shot, but it also revealed his lack of influence and Star power too. That was his attempt at a corporate coup, and it failed.

What bad publicity? You mean like people who have never met him assuming he's an ass or criticizing him because he plays the same character? Cause NO other action star has done that. Yeah Zachary Levi was sorta throwing Rock under the bus for trying to small time him and for trying to get Cavill/Superman in for Black Adam over Levi/Shazam because Rock thought Levi wasn't on his level.
