This is a massive deal. Streaming has been beating traditional TV for a while now, and it’s only going to continue to grow in that direction. And Netflix is the biggest streamer. This is the 2024 version of Raw ending up on NBC. This is huge for the wrestling business.

Apparently all WWE content will be on Netflix outside of the US. Including WrestleMania and other PLEs.
WrestleMania on Netflix. Jesus Christ.

This is obviously big news in the US, for the first time in history, RAW won't be on traditional television. This is huge news for us Aussies. WWE has been available through Foxtel since 1998 and aside from that minor hiccup in late 2002 where Foxtel didn't renew the rights to SmackDown and PPVs for a solid 9 months they've had a strong relationship which has only blossomed in recent years with the WWE Channel and the catalogue of old content. It'll be a shame if Netflix will have to start from scratch again, especially since the archive is still incomplete on Foxtel. I was just enjoying how convenient the channel was. Nothing like flicking over at midnight only to catch an episode of RAW from 1995 where they're building up to Wrestlemania XI. Baker did you catch the Diesel vs. Shawn Michaels match on Prodigy?

It's finally happening. MLS went to Apple TV, the NBA announcing they want a streaming deal on their next contract, and Diamond Sports making a deal with Amazon that will bring MLB, NHL & NBA games to Prime Video, and now this.
We're 5 years late but it's happening. This is all people have been asking for. Viewers are straight up trying to give these companies their money so they can access content more easily and these dinosaurs at cable companies have been standing in the way. It's finally coming to an end. Thank god.

That is pretty big deal!
I believe their contract with peacock which I think expires in 2026(Don’t hold my word to it I might get the year wrong.). I wondering once their deal done with Peacock they have PLE including Wrestlemania including other WWE contents on Netflix.

Well, this is good news.
All WWE content on netflix in the UK.
Probably more reason for the PL to find a streaming service for their games now, but I digress.
Netflix & Chill has a new meaning now.

Does this mean no commercials? If so that’s a godsend for viewers but a huge hassle for WWE production wise

Ah ok, there’s no ads on the Australian version. How will that work though? Just show the logo over the RAW theme music like AEW does on Fite TV/Triller?

The only issue I have with this is having your content divided between 2 different subscriptions(Peacock & Netflix), just feels slimy to milk the audience extra to watch your content in addition to the cable bill. I don't have Netflix and outside of this month(NFL), won't have Peacock so it sucks there isn't another alternative to have to be able to watch RAW. PPV's are one thing, having your actual show seems to alienate the older demographic who aren't as in tune with streaming.
You also run the risk of your product suffering if the streaming suffers any technical faults/issues if it's running live.
But the money WWE got, they had to do it.

Huge news indeed.
I wonder how much they are going to fleece us for Netflix now. I just gave our Netflix up because it was $20 a month and I found myself watching Crave, Prime and Disney+ more. Might get it back to watch WWE in 2025. We'll see.

So this is good news for me. I was about to sub to YoutubeTV because I can’t get Smackdown on my Tv. Right now I pay for Peacock and Sling so I can only get Raw and PLE’s. I have to watch Smackdown next day on Hulu. This will save me whatever the cost difference is between Sling + Netflix vs YouTubeTV.. which may actually not be that much money. $20 maybe?

Big Pete has there been an announcement on WWE and Foxtel. I'd imagine it would be locked in regardless, as they've had a relationship for well over 25 years now.

Nothing has been announced yet from Foxtel but the initial press release from September '22 says it was a multi-year deal which suggests to me 3-5 years.
This is what the WWE press release says about the international deal.
My interpretation of 'as available' is countries without a a television/streaming deal. So when the Foxtel/Binge/Kayo deal expires, we'll likely see the switch to Netflix in 2026/27.

We could have The Big Dog Roman Reigns team up with Mr. Peanutbutter from BoJack in some weird crossover Netflix special.

LMFAO.
WWE Network ending and Raw off the air from Oct - Jan.
Raw will be structured around commercials as well despite being on a streaming service. Ad-free gets rest holds or blank screens.
In response to this news, Netflix cancelled it's cheapest plan and jacked prices up on the others.
For two years people said AEW was dying and this is what happens to WWE.
Edit: For people who did not put it together, now that there are no PPV and only PLE, PLE will also almost certainly have ad breaks as well, and matches be scripted around regular breaks as well as Raw.

I'm not sure how this is a " OMG LMFAO " moment, the deal is worth reportedly $5 billion over 10 years. And the Network has more or less been replaced by exclusive deals across different territories, ie; Peacock in the US and Foxtel in Australia as examples. It's a best case scenario having your content on another platform as it will likely reduce a tonne of overheads internally and it allows for even greater casual and cross-over exposure. It's a winning situation.
Unlike some, growth is important.

PLE’s have already had ads for months because of Peacock’s cheaper tier.
Netflix has more subscribers than cable in the US, and it’s going up while the cable number is going down. It’s tough to spin this move as a negative. Of course, some will try.

Is it just Raw/live events or is it everything the network and I assume Peacock was about? Because having access to everything on a platform I already would own is great. If it's just Raw, that's doesn't work for me brotha.

If the content here in Oz, ceases to be on Foxtel, this will probably convince me to pick up Netflix again. We dropped it a few years ago when we were struggling to find anything to watch on it. Given Foxtel have a dedicated channel and all content is available to stream, and the magnitude of promotion Foxtel does for WWE and UFC, I can't see it going away any time soon.

Streaming sucks so bad, man. Hate that this is the era we're currently in. Like, this is, by far, the best deal Raw could ever hope for. And it blows for consumers.
