So, I watch this youtube channel www.youtube.com/@popomedic .  It all started for me when I watched a video about the en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ash_Street_shootout .  Unfortunately that video has been taken down.

Anyhow, he often posts videos about how a team of navy seals took out some group of Somali pirates or something like that.  And it got me to thinking: Are the US Navy Seals almost always punching down?  You've got some highly trained, well funded, well researched individuals that have taken and chosen their fight and opponents vs what normally seems like a well armed group of hungry and scrappy opponents.  All that intel and tactical advantage just seems a bit like punching down.

The aim in war or any battle is to be punching down. There are no fair fights in war.

I mean, if you are on defense you are often punching up right? I guess, maybe I don't understand the flex of 6 navy seals taking out 27 bums.

My buddy and I were talking about this whole thing last Friday. He's former French Foreign Legion and former Canadian soldier who served 10 deployments to some real shit hole places. He was talking about Israeli intel and said it was some of if not THE best in the world. He also discussed the US military talking about how if it does not serve the US, they don't get involved and asked why would they send their elite (SEALS) to attack Somali pirates for no reason.

He says Isreal's main objective is keeping weapons out of Hamas' hands. There's a good bet they had confirmed intel that ship was transporting more than bananas and two of them lost their lives so is that really punching down and were the pirates actually 'bums'?
