Watched it for the first time last year, I’d always see that scene where Tony goes off about the guy wearing a hat in the restaurant on syndication and knew about the controversial ending but other than went in blind. Absolutely loved it, such phenomenal character work by James Gandolfini, watched a video of him winning an award it’s surreal hearing his normal voice considering how much he transformed himself into Tony Soprano. Tried to get sandylea into the show and just happened to be watching some of the least exciting episodes, hopefully she reconsiders.

There’s 2 shows I can rewatch from start to finish and this is one of them. Game of Thrones being the other.

I caught 2 episodes during the time when the show aired, 2006-2007, my first and only impression and it was definitely 2 of the most dreadful episodes of the whole show. One of the episodes about Meadow in college with her uncle ben boyfriend, the other was one of the gay Vito episodes where he was trying to work a real job and forcing himself to wait to look at his watch to see what time it was the fat lazy mamaluke fuck. Then they caught him taking a nap!
So not the best impression. I brushed it off as trash and way overrated and never watched. Finally somebody gave me a box set of it for X-Mas probably 2014 or 2015. I remember posting about my first watchthrough here on PW just fell so hard in love with it. The Men In Black line that I mentioned in the other thread was the point where I fell in love with that character and the show.

There are so few shows that I ever watch more than once. I know I've mentioned this before, but with so much media available to consume, and so little time being a parent to two young children, I can't justify spending time watching something I've already seen. But man, Sopranos has been percolating in the back of my mind justifying a rewatch. When would I have time to do that? I don't know. But it's something that I've been wanting to do. That and King of the Hill for some reason.

When I’m Tik-Tok’ing (sorry iNCY) I get a bunch of Sopranos clips popping up and I’ll watch them and every single time I think to myself “man I need to rewatch this shit from the start”.

KING KID that's me and GOT. Feel like a second watch with the knowledge and love of the lore will be even better. I might just "binge" the whole series of Sopranoa since a thread like this is bound to troll me. Normally I'd watch something else and come back to s2 but I won't be able to resist this thread.

Finished season 1. Actually was expecting something bigger for the finale, but I suppose it was setting up for things to come.

I know you can't expect to avoid spoilers for a 20 yr old show, but I figured watching She Hulk would be safe LMAO.

I'm not totally binging this, but I am making it a priority in my "DA LIST" clearout.
Bruh this show is making me FEEL things. Heading towards the end of season 3. This current is borderline making me uncomfortable. I'm literally yelling at the screen. Figuratively.
"Bitch what are you doing? You better STOP."

Ralphie - is he a proper heel or Xpac heat? At first it was go away for me, but he made a babyface turn in there somewhere. Dude there's something about someone in this crew showing up. You go for the eggs man. They never get made.

Started watching season 5 and it's been weighing on me a bit. A lot of these episodes don't necessarily end on a BANG. I don't wanna say out of nowhere, but there's a weird vibe to them. Enough that the famous fade to black that's famous for feels very on brand. Almost like it's telling you to just wait and see. Tony watching for the bear be like, I wish you would.
Do they ever have Silvio do anything? Feels like he's never the focus of anything and always a background character. High up the totem pole but we know about him like any random goon.
Young Boy pays feels like a weird training exercise. Paying your dues but also how you handle the building resentment and the bond you maintain with your small council members.

It's a perfect show, ending and all. I'll die on that perfect ending hill.
HBO was absolutely killing it for nearly two decades. Sopranos, The Wire, GoT, etc.
I'm curious if Sully would still be my favorite character and how I'd feel about characters like Christopher, Anthony and/or Meadow with the advantage of hindsight.

That scene I just saw feels unreasonably deep. "It's a syndrome, protecting your abuser" and the response, - I woulda did it too.

I didn't care for Ralphie I thought he was a poor man's Richie Aprile, I liked him a lot better and would have liked him to stick around longer. Part of it may be that I never liked the actor that plays Ralphie, Joe Pantaliano, was glad to see him go and thought he stuck around too long. Also loved Robert Loggia's character however you spell it, I read somewhere they had to pull the plug on that character as quick as they did because the actor was just too old in poor health and couldn't remember his lines. But damn that scene where him and Paulie are kissing each other offering each other breadsticks to ready to kill each other in about 30 seconds may be one of my favorite scenes of the whole show. Tell me something Paulie, this landscaper does he shave your balls too? I got a right to fucking EARN!

I think I watched the show for the first time finally by 2014 or 2015. After that I had rewatched season 1 and 2 a few times but petered out. Finally redid the whole thing in early 2022 and can't say I have any desire to go through a third time, the fourth season I found dreadful and a lot of the last batches of episodes were not great either(I did love the ending though). The Wire on the other hand I can feel a 3rd rewatch coming on strong it may be time.

Dude fuck Anthony bruh. I know he's a snotty teenager and maybe it's because I'm an adult supposedly but I really admire their restraint in smacking this kid. When you have to pay for your own stuff and to have a snot nosed brat throw a fit because there's no raisin bran... fuck you bruh.
